fixing rear fog lights
Any other shops other than MM has very good experience with the rear fog lamp? Looking for a fast fix, rather than be a guinea pig for some Accessory shop. cause mine is PI.

actually prefer incandescent blubs. LEDs are a bit too ex for me and somehow doesn't save much.
|
So the haze is that bad.

went for a drive up north. and during heavy rains, i can hardly see the car in front of me. So think that a rear fog kinda useful, it also adds a bit of color to the otherwise black 'bum' :wiggle:

Inter moonson season is approaching. Based on the weather report, there's an indication of of the onset of North Easterly winds. Could potentially clear our haze problem...save some money buy better brakes...even if you can't see, can still stop in time.

stock brakes quite decent la. tires are also new. rear fogs are also a good weapon against those non projector type illegal HIDs.

rear fogs
Decided to DIY. finished installing the light behind. next is the wirings.
will only use fogs when the visibility is bad la. I know how it is like driving behind someone with rear fogs on for no reason. Main use is on NS highway during heavy rains. Trust me, you can barely see the car in front. anyway fogs be it front or rear are there to allow people to see you. its purpose is never to illuminate the road for you to see. Headlights do the job of throwing the beam forward to illuminate the road ahead. The fogs throw a wide beam to allow others to see you more clearly. |

anyway not difficult to DIY. there are instructions although its in Jap, still fairly readable by recognising the characters which are the same as chinese. Had the tools to cut the bumper also. USed a dremel. quite easy. except that i had to remove the bumper to screw in the light. was told by another forumer in the US , that no need to remove bumper, But i didn't have a short stubby screw driver to screw it in, thus had to remove bumper. Took an additional 20mins as i'm not too familiar to take it out. DIY also has its benefits. I get good workmanship instead of leaving it to the shop which anyhow bang it in and then say sorry if they damage any part. Also must be careful when i reverse into a lot. scraping the bumper now , might break the light. haha |
