FI for 5MT?

hi to all bro here.

I was seriously considering 5MT and 6MT right now. But more bias toward 5MT bcoz of my budget.

The only factor which set me back from placing my order for an 8 now is the torque. Any FI system in the market can tremendously increase the torque for 5MT?

How much would it cost?

How much torque would it generate?

Is it reliable? Will it "hurt" the Renesis?

Thanks in advance for your valuable comments.

actually is it really that bad? in fact i am dun feel that it is as bad as mention. I am driving the 6MT but i assume the 5MT should roughly be the same.

did you test drive the car? u should.

if I am not mistaken, the torque on the 5MT is higher than the 6MT. The 6MT has higher horses. If your budget dictates, how come you want to F1 the 5MT?

My advice is, at the end of the day, its the driving style that dictates your car's perfomance or fun factor. All this comparison is so very academic. Just get either-- so long as its a manual transmisson, you will enjoy it regardless whether its a 5MT or 6MT.

Then, following that, drive it for six months before you want to rice-it up. Why drain your hard earn money away even before you even start driving the car. Find out what the car is all about beforeyou plough more money. maybe you may find out that its fine/fun the way it is i.e. stock?

if want power, rx8 is not for you. why buy a car and think of upgrades right away. buy something that you really like and drive it stock for as long as possible. I have learnt the hard way. No point dumping in so much to a car. new cars will always appear and you will be itchy again.

ya...i know...but i like the looks of rx8...i like a coupe, but need a 4doors sedan bcoz of commitment...

but afraid when i bring it to track, i'll be dissapointed...

If you are afraid of getting disappointed when you bring it to track, then I suggest spending on the 6MT instead of the 5MT+FI. Coz at least you can still add the FI on the 6MT in future but you can't add a 6MT on the 5MT+FI. Just MHO.

"you can't add a 6MT on the 5MT+FI."????? :Eyecrazy:

Of course, we can't!!!!

sqflyer 01-14-2007 11:40 PM

Ermm... That's precisely why I suggest getting the 6MT instead of the 5MT+FI. Coz he can't upgrade the 5MT to 6MT but he can FI the 6MT later on.

the 5 transmissions for me is enough already, 6 transmissions gear ratio too close. Was thinking of save the 10 over thousands to upgrade the rims, brake, and FI.

maybe you should meetup and see what a 5MT and 6MT are like. gear ratio too close for 6MT? I think not.

CoupeM 01-15-2007 01:59 AM

6mt engine different from 5mt engine u noe

tan280 01-15-2007 03:19 AM

for what I noe [correct me if I am wrong], the 5MT is using the 4AT engine with only 4 ports whereas 6MT got 6 ports and addition to the euro model [sold by MM], it comes with twin oil coolers whereas JDM only equipped with one...

sqflyer 01-15-2007 04:09 AM

Yep, you are all correct. 5MT and 6MT have different engines, not just an additional gear and closer gear ratio. BTW, if you wanna do FI properly with cooling, can already cost 10K+. No more money for brakes (easily at least another 2K++) and rims (also another 2K++ depending on what rims/tyres). Oh.. 1 more thing. 6MT legal.. 5MT+FI illegal.

Somehow I dont think that is possible ;)

peloponisios 01-15-2007 06:35 AM

Why, is there a definite solution for FI in the 5MT? I, at least, haven't heard or seen nothing so far.

rx8dorifto 01-16-2007 08:39 PM
