Not to sound cynical.
Sometimes its just a renaming or rebranding of similar product lines to cater to specific groups just to justify a price hike. e.g. Why are modeller's toolkits are a few times more expensive then normal toolkits? I believe esentially there are only a few major engine oil producers and so called boutique oils are essentially a re-brand. Just like alot of other things; LCDs, computers, laptops, accessories, etc. Its said that certain oils cause damage and there will be a recall on engines affected but we have yet to see any disclaimers or recalls as yet. I may be wrong but this is just my opinion. |

Let's see ur engine or my engine last longer..... drive as per normal as how u wld drive everyday..... deal? |
Maybe if you sponsor me the RE oil for another 50k and i see if it works. Don't worry, i will write you a fair testimonial if it works. Can also shun-bian sponsor special plugs?

actually what you are asking has been covered so many many times so
u can understand if some of the members here reply with a hint of the sacrasm. use the search button and you will have more info then u can handle. but just some brief advice, don't anyhow put in oil that is not suitable for rotary engines if not you will end up with a very expensive engine overhaul. tried , tested and proven. there are mineral and synthetic oils specifically meant for rotary engines. if not just stick to mineral oil, cannot go wrong. if general engine oils can be used for rotaries, then why would brands like idemitsu, trust and r-magic create specific engine oils for rotaries? i hope you have not already put in the endless synthetic oil in your engine and if your workshop swears by it, ask them to warranty your engine in writing. not too long ago, an engine oil co/manufacturer swears by their product and offer a $1 million warranty to back their product, i wonder what happened to them now? tried searching that but nothing comes out when i search for endless engine oil. so just asking if anyone knows if this can be used. no problem if you didn't come across this. i was sceptical so didn't let them use that. I know pple like to 'suan' others so when they see something like this they think this is my chance to 'suan' him. |

Dont worry about it bud.
Everyone started as a new bird at one time or the other too and while yes it may sometimes be irritating to see a question repeated time and time again....still they can choose not to answer your thread or to even read it. You will find that there are some of us who will try and help and give advice around too so dont hesitate to ask - that is what these forums are for! Having said that - I dont really know very much and am still learning myself but you can try approaching some of the older birds for advice. Good luck and hope to see you at some of the club meets/trips in the future! |
Haiz....sigh....y search for endless oil...search for syn oil or mineral oil....tut...there is no such thing as endless oil in our car.
Since everyone so nice...I will give u this advice...stay away from syn oil unless it states rotary syn if not just use mineral. |

I may be stupid but I stock few 5L cans of Trust F2 RE spec and boxes of R-magic oil filter at home due to lazy to drive 350km away for servicing my car. I'm not an oil/chemical engineer but it will not be wrong if use branded RE spec oil on rotary engine. Talk about the carbon lock, we should also think about the petrol we use. Please try to find out what is the RON rating means and what is its purpose. Is the so call premium grade petrol with high RON rating is safe to use when there are engine oil injected into the engine? Need engineer to calculate it. |

I pesonally feel that Rotary engines are like no others, wrong engine oil used might cause the engine to KA BOOM......... Be Safe, Use Rotary Synthetic Oil or Mineral Oil! As for all the "Suan Suan" thingy, just take it with a pinch of salt la......it happen in every forum mate. |

so it is carbon lock tat kills? not being synthetic or mineral? i see post from rotary god saying that as long as the oil burns cleanly it works. Anyway to play save, i juz insist on rotary oil from the workshop.
So either only rotary synthetic or mineral.... Layman term, If u wan to use synthetic, look for those with the rotary logos or wordings from japan or USA.... if unsure and not tried n tested, use mineral. Y i say frm japan or usa. Becos long long time ago, someone (local) juz wants to use his own brand of oil which is not meant for rotary, and repackaged the whole shit as rotary oil.. which is very unethical.... so rotary oil, sometimes oso must see that its branded.. if not, cannot be trusted... |

I hope u are not saying that I am trying to take advantage of the situation to "suan" you coz that is not me. anyhow, i have deleted my post and just take it tat i was toking crap. perhaps you might yield more results if you search "engine oil" and about that shady oil company, that had totally nothing to do wif u. cheers |
btw, this new engine oil offered by MM for the 8.
what's it all about. quite intrique by it. specs like semi syn or maybe still mineral. 10,000k servicing rite? but at $70, and if it is a rotary syn oil, quite a steal leh. any MM 8s have used the oil, what's the take on it? |
Have been on MM Golden SM oil for 2 oil change. Feels a bit smoother compare to last use Shell mineral :)
Oil is changed only at 10k km interval by MM as this is what they suggest though I need to go servicing every 5k km. Golden SM is mineral which I think is good and cheap to run..... can't comment on other synthetic oil as I never tried before. But i know rotary synthetic is costly which I don think is necessary on my car. MM don reccommend on synthetic oil anyway I am quite surprise that normal servicing done at MM is quite cheap. :) eg changing oil and oil filter and routine checks.....cheaper than a toyota and honda servicing |
the engine oil from MM is mineral... wt i dun understand is how come mineral oil can last 10,000km.... but since MM says so, the MM cars can rest assure that MM will warranty u if anything goes wrong.
the engine feels smoother becos the oil is thinner..... |
I have been using Idemitsu Mineral 15w 40, it is due for service now... should be ok to continue using this? or change to Shell Mineral 10w 30?
