E-Cool

Anyone has any experience with this product call the E-Cool?

http://www.perfect.com.sg/main_ecool.html
http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publis...s/proudct.html

its a A micro-processor based controller that is adapted to control the actuation and operation of a vehicle's existing ventilation blower fan motor in conjunction with the utilization of the vehicle's existing ventilation ducting

This ventilation system controller piggy-backs on your car's existing air-conditioning system and battery supply. With the ignition off, e-Cool monitors and prevents cabin temperatures from increasing by switching on the air-conditioner blower

It claims to be able to lower the internal car temp by 10 degree even when U leave your car under the sun.

And its much cheaper than those window films.

Price: from $388.00 from "STAR Automotive Centre"

BUT

Price: $150 from "PERFECT WINDOW FILMS PTE LTD"

Hi morgan,

I haven't actually tried this product, but my dad has a volvo and the car has a similar system built in. There is a sensor built into the dash housing near the radio and the fan comes on when it hits a certain temperature. It seems to work well coz even though my dad's car still feels hot after parking under the sun, it doesn't feel like a hot oven when you open the door. Car also seems to cool down alot faster after you turn on the engine and have the aircon running. Hope this info helps.

Thanks.

Just found out that the price is still $150 and installation is around $30++

So the total price will be $180++

(I can't believe that STAR Automotive Centre is trying to charge $388 for the E-cool + installation. Thats double of the price)

Just did another call and they did confirm that both are the same item.

Its just that they are selling it at a LOW LOW price. 1/2 price of what STAR Automotive Centre is selling for .

hrmm...interesting. my only concern and question is will it kill ur batteries? since the engine is not running and the fan is tapping into the batt, after prolong parking under sun and the fan going on and off, isn't it like turning ur headlamps on while parking rite?

This device is designed to stop operating if the vehicle is left unattended for more than a day. This device will reset itself once the ignition is turned on.

Maximum Consumption 5 to 8 Amps before device shuts down
Detection Temperature: 38°C + 0.5°C (98.8°F + 1°F)
Under Voltage Detection: 11.5V DC

According to the company selling it. This device will NOT work on those cars with DRY CELL batteries.

IF the Weather is good tmr I will be able to give u guys my experience with the E-Cool by tmr night.

....

Anyway Just install the Top range 3M 95%(front) 98% (Back) solar film with free Custom cutting 3M car mat. ( I really love the car mat as it can be cut in a way that cover the whole floor for the Driver side so it means less vacuuming for me.)

AT ONLY $650 (normal price is $1000)

Thanks to Matric 11 (jin)

Hi morgan,

How much will it cost to do only the custom cut 3M car mat? I'm currently using the 3M mats from my previous car and I'm thinking of getting new mats cut to the shape and size of the RX8. Thanks.

I do not know the actual price
But It should be $160 and below cos I overheard them tell a owner of a Lexus LS300 or L300 (forgot the model)

So RX8 is smaller so maybe cheaper.

I had all my mats cut bigger and longer than original size so it will cover more.
so the bigger u cut the more expensive.

It has been cloudy for the pass 2-3days. So its difficult to update.

Need to wait for a Hot sunny day before I can compare between 2 similar cars one with and the other with out E-Cool.

(just for info. the E-Cool was not install on the RX8 but on both my dad's and my 1.6 Liter Saloon car)

But if it works on the Saloon car, it should work on any other cars.

Thanks for waiting.

Here's the test results.

One the same model car park side by side under the sun with out Shelter
From 11.30pm to 2.30 pm

Door Close for 3 hrs
W/ E-Cool - Temp = 57 degrees , Humidity = 16%
W/out E-Cool Temp = 60 degrees, Humidity = 33%

Although the Temp is not much different , theres still a physical diffences on my face When I 1st enter the car.
I can feel a higher/more burning feeling when I enter the car without the E-Cool with a 2x the Humidity and just 3 degrees hotter.

Maybe its the Humidity that play a part too.

Frankly speaking dont waste the money. Just lower the windows everytime u 1st enter and full blast the aircon...

But to my dad its quite useful cos he goes in and out the car 5-6 times everyday. So the Temp diff is much more if u do that, cos The car will heat up much faster if without the E-Cool.
So I guess the E-Cool can only perform "magic" up to only a certain period of time.
If more than this "Time" (when the Temp is at its Max) the blower would not be able to reduce the temp by too much.

With a Temp and Humidity digital Meter. Which I used it for my camera dry box.
