Driver tip - How to have better vision during heavy downpour

"How to acheive good vision during heavy downpour, while you are driving.

We are not sure how effective it is, just try this method when it rains heavily.

This method was told by a Police friend who had experienced and confirmed it.... it is useful...even driving at night.

Most of the motorists would turn on HIGH or FASTEST SPEED of the wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibilty in front of the windscreen is still bad.....

Thus, in the event you face such situation, just try your SUN GLASSES ( any model will do), and miracle................

All of a sudden, your visibility in front of your windscreen are perfectly clear, as if there is no rain...................

no leh....i tried tat on NS highway. Was rushing back to singapore and it rained heavily. I had on my sunglasses and forgot to remove it. Visibility was total crap. I am also total cock....never remove sunglasses. Kekeke

In the States, we have a product called RainX that uses the wind to move the rain off the windshield/windscreen. The harder it rains the better the product works. It comes in a liquid that is applied to the windscreen. RainX was the original product, there are now others that copy its function. I have driven though downpours with out using my wipers when other cars were pulling off the road due to visibility.

rainx was in spore like 15 years ago, i still remember using it back in the early ninties on my first car. now there are so many off shoot products from rainx brand. car wash, dashboard protectant, glass antifog, wiper additive etc....

but the problem with rainx is if u apply to the front windscreen where the wiper is,
after a while with the wiper on, it starts squeaking. problem is it's flurocarbon based and it strips off any oil film which is present on the glass.
but works great on the other glass panels & mirrors.

I tried Autoglym Glass polish. same concept, non flurocarbon based.
and I think it's more like a wax and non harmful to rubber.

There's a kind of sunglasses used for night cycling.
the lens is yellow in colour. it enhances surrounding light
pretty much like night vision goggles but to a lesser degree.

I guess some sunglasses will have the same effect
but only those with a light bronze tint

I cant see how regular wearing sunglasses at night would ever improve visibility, BUT...

one time I was driving in New Zealand in the rain, it was overcast, but not nighttime. I was shocked when I found out I could see better with my sunglasses on. They are an expensive pair of Rayban's (polarized and all that good stuff), and I think this was part of the reason it improved visibility.

Amber colored lenses seem to work best. Nike has a pair of contacts out that are amber for playing sports like baseball or soccer. Helps block out certain wavelengths and increases contrast. I'm sure the right pair of sunglasses will do the same thing.

Polarised sun glassess works best.

Safest way when driving in the rain? Use rain repellents and drive slowly.

Blackeight: I used to use rainx for many years. Thats till i realised the more expensive JAp ones works better and hurts the wipers less. And its easier to apply too.

In Singapore when the streets are quite well lit, u can put on ur Polarized Sunglasses even at night and get real good vision during heavy downfall. The polarized 'filter' collapsed the edges of bright light sources and keep 'stray' light off so u can see better.

Tried it many time and its very effective.
