Difference between NA and non NA engines
Hi Bros and Sisters
Just want to understand, what is the difference between NA and non-NA engines? Why is there a differentiation? Which is better in terms of performance? Thanks! |
N.A cars r cars moving without the aid of a force induction device like turbos or
supercharger...In terms of performance of the engine, a car wif force induction will always out perform an N.A car as F.I cars usually have a higer torque output, something all N.A owners can only dream of (or work on it?).... :mdrmed: But then, lets look at real life performance details...when talking abt the performance of a car, the engine output is not the only consideration...many a times, suspension, braking power, body rigidity n handling of the car is always neglected...U will noe wat i mean when u try driving a car wif an engine that performs like an monster but performs like a 1.6l saloon car when it comes to all the above factors... In general, most N.A peformance cars will run on a higher compression engine but most FI cars will run on engine wif relatively low compression...This is generally the rule of the thumb for engine...high compression low boost or low compression high boost... But in the end, I'd say it all boils down to ur driving style to c wat kind of a car really suits ur need...there r some who cannot stand the turbo lag in FI cars but there r also FI owners who cannot stand a car without the spoof effect during driving... Hope this will at least ans a few of ur qns... :) |

Thanks ,Rei and CoupeM for the clarifications. However, one more question. Does that mean that normal everyday cars, eg, toyota altis, nissan sunny, etc, are all NA cars? If not, then why not?
|
they are all NA. FI cars like wrx, sti, evo, yrv turbo, cooper s, ford st, rx7, silvia, skyline...etc.etc
|
sometime ago i read in some performance car magazine. IT SAYS
"Replacement Cannot Beat Displacement " |

then is RX8 a NA Car also?

Totally agree wif wat bro CoupeM have said...however, there r still times when i
actually wish mazda offered a supercharger in the stock 8 to give it a little more power n perhaps a lot more torque...but at the same time remains linear n drivable...(or a 20B wld be nice?) :naughty: Yes, the sunny, altis, vios, lancer n civics r all technically N.A cars...because non of these cars r suppose to be factory fitted wif a force induction device... but u'll be surprise by how many turbocharged vios n civics out there who is capable to be the crap out of the 8 in a straight line drag race... But then again, like I previously said...real life performance is being reflected upon by every aspect of the car...unless drag races is ur forte, using the output of the engine to determine the true performance of the car wld be silly n serve no purpose...N if power is truly everything, I wld have study harder to become an astronaut...heehee... :mdrmed: N oh...yes, RX8 is an N.A car... |

No offense, but I think the correct term is Natural Aspirated, not Normal Aspirated... |
Thanks everyone! Really learnt alot from all of you guys. And Rei is correct. Just pure power is not enough if the handling of the car is no good, amongst other factors. Just like being long is no big deal if the person suffers from premature ejaculation!!

can mod already...use either viagra (turbo?) or cialis (supercharger?)... :naughty: |
