Diff between KnightSports Supercharger and Blitz Supercharger
 

Like to know what are the main difference between the 2 cos couldn't find much information in the forum or on the website...some main queries are:

1. Which produces more power/torque? Managed to find on the forum with some saying blitz and knightsports makes 80ps?

2. There is a on/off switch, an low, med, high setting for the blitz supercharger, but does the knightsport have the same thing? Couldn't find much discussion or info on knightsports. Also read on the forum that now blitz supercharger is "activated" by the amount of throttle you apply. Is this the previous model or the current model? Any idea?

3. Any info on the torque figures? No mention in the forum. The figures i managed to pluck from the forum and website is...blitz produces 260ps from a dynoed base of 180ps. Knightsports produces 292.6ps from a dynoed base of 212.6ps....so effectively both produce 80ps more. No mention of torque figures as stated.

The blitz supercharger is a roots type sc. So it produces loads of torque at low rpms due to getting its full boost from low rpm. The Knightsports sc is a centrifugal type. It produces most of its power at the high end as the boost adds up exponentially. A centrifugal sc behaves nearly like a turbocharger.

KS sc must ask Monster Garage. Tuning of KS sc is done by flashing the ecu or i believe using emanage ultimate. Take note that for the blitz, it is a bolt on. For the KS, you will need to change to an aftermarket bumper to fit it.

Knight sports supercharger and BLitz supercharger operates differently. Hardware difference, gabriel has explained to you.

The blitz SC is more of a "street use" SC, as one of our member will tell u and it still is operated by ur right foot, ie, the amount of pressure u put on ur accelerator.

Knight sports SC hardware is bolt on, but needs tuning to ur ECU. Flashing alone will not help. As to the reason y needs to change to aftermkt bumper, its mainly due to the V-mount relocation of ur radiator to allow better cooling. Mazda stock bumper front opening is too small.

As for hp gains, this figures varies from cars to cars. I may have gained 80 ps from this setup, but u may not have the same figures. There are many other factors.

as to which one is better, again, this is subjective.

if u install the blitz SC,
1. u cannot put in any aftermarket strut bar.
2. oil filter needs to be relocated.

If u install the KS SC,
1. Original mazda front bumper cannot be used, due to V-mount setup.
2. u will need knight sports tuner to come down to tune.

so how much is the KS SC... i mean the complete package plus tunning and installation..

Mine's a 4AT. Where does one get Blitz SC in SG? MG? I am keen, as my 2 mods will be accoustic - muffler and Performance - SC.

Am under the impression that SC is 'harder' to inspect/detect then TC. Am I right?

Wrong...if u do get the blitz sc..it will be very obvious when they pop your bonnet. The only way for them to miss it is if they are blind or they dont know what a supercharger looks like. The sound of a supecharger's scream is also unique and unmistakeable.

Blitz sc, you can get from Imperial Concept. Then again..how often do they pop your bonnet? Hehehehe

for BLitz SC, u shld go to Imperial Concepts. However it is very obvious once the bonnet is popped up, as per wat coupeM says.

In fact, the greddy turbo kit is not obvious. You cannot see the "snail" unless ur car is hoisted up. U can only see the mushroom head (intake).

Knight Sports SC kit... u can see the intake, the intercooler from the top. U also cannot see the supercharger....

I saw the Greddy - RX8 example on Jap Performance Aug06.. You are right abt the mushroom head being visible, which is ok.. Is there only one model - GT28 turbo kit? The article mentions the situation with intercooler positioning w special brackets, oil feed pipes routing, etc.. is that consider complicated then 'bolt-on'? Would 'piggyback' ECU be a boon or bane?

Guess it won't be easy to have it (relatively) easy to install, yet not that visible..

everything is bolt on. U need not customise anything or weld anything. u can take everything down, put back ur original mazda genuine parts and ur car will go back stock.

piggyback ecu bane or boon greatly depends on the tuning. which is true for all ecu. i have not seen a local or our frenly neighbour which has done good tuning for the greddy turbo kit. The 2 units running on spore roads are doing well, and were tuned by re-amemiya.

Does the blitz sc yield a higher hp around 50+ ?

You got me there.... It's the ECU that separate between Greddy kit and RE kit..... RE kit which includes Original ECU remap really makes a different in stabilising the car performance..... There're two RE kit in Mal doing well..... The tuning wasn't a problem except for Greddy kit owners..... Greddy should have done better than just selling...

how did they get the remaps?? sent to japan?? the 2 re kit were tuned in msia or pre-tuned in Japan???

They send their ECUs to Japan...... 3 weeks waiting it to be back.....

Ru saying the blitz SC is a true bolt on which doesnt require tuning?
Was also wondering what kinda piggyback the Blitz is using for their SC kit?

Can we get some prices for both the Blitz and Knightsports (for when they come down to Singapore next for tuning purposes)..
