CONFIRMED Sepang Track Day

I will extend this offer to everyone from these forums first, including ANY of our Malaysian members who are interested.

Date: Friday 23 Feb

Time: Either 9am to 12pm OR 1pm to 4pm

Fee: RM$300 per car and RM$2k for timing services

I will need to get a minimum of 30 cars to secure it and I will ask that you pay the money directly to the Sepang booking office (I will arrange for direct payment with them).

I realise this is a Friday but that is the best that I can do on such short notice. I will hold this offer for the RX8 club till Sunday 11 Feb - after which I will open this up to the diff. clubs in Singapore till I hit the 30 car mark or more.

Would suggest that we take the afternoon 1pm to 4pm run so we can meet up nice and early for breakfast before taking a no rush drive up to Sepang.

After the track we could either stay for the night in KL where I am able to get corporate rates for hotels or serviced apartments or drive home. Pls indicate which you would prefer when you put your name down.

Alternatively if the group is really split in two - then I see no reason why someone could not lead the convoy home and another group could stay in KL for the night.

I will also arrange for photos to be taken and I will post them here after the event.

Lastly I would strongly urge all participants to service their vehicles PRIOR to us leaving for Sepang to minimise any hiccups along the way.

So without further ado........................

1) Swerve76 (I vote stay overnight in KL)

Why not stay until Sunday? I think there is another open track day on Sunday. Bike in the morning and car in the afternoon.

Swerve76 02-09-2007 01:19 AM

I have interest from a few motoring clubs already - I'll hold spots for the RX8 club till this Sunday (11 Feb 2007).

Don't worry. Just go at your own pace. The racer will negotiate around us. Some of them are lapping and setting up, can get pretty piss if get into their racing line. I'm not so sure about the car track day like but in the rack with my bike for around 10 track days last year. Any MSS racer here? Just curious.

CoupeM 02-10-2007 02:27 AM

We are all track newbies..better not get into the professional racer's way.

Thats why i dont like open days lor. All it takes is one idiot of a 'racer' to lose his cool and ruin our cars.

But feel free to join us Yehui, in fact you should encourage the Malaysian guys to come talk to us more - lets set up some friendly monthly track days with both sides :D

yehui 02-10-2007 03:29 AM

I'm track virgin for car. Will need you guys' guidance if I do get an 8. In bike open track days, lots of Singaporean riders as well especially double track days. Can see Malaysian riders one side, singaporean riders one side. I used to feel that Singaporean are a bit "lan see" (sorry about that). But once, I talk to a rider, noticed they are actually very friendly. I guest we are all people with same interest and passion, shouldn't let nationality segregate us.

tat's not true, most newbies are spooked by such tales
on e contary open track days give u exposure usually not found on closed track days
my experiences have been positive so far, just be humble, drive within your limits and of course some drivin EQ

yehui 02-11-2007 08:57 PM

Ya. Open track day can actually learn a lot. Can follow some of faster one to learn the line, braking point. Yes. The most important one is to know the limit and track etiquette
