Collecting the car.

Dear Bros,

Do you collect your car at the PI/MM or your salesman delivers the car to ur doorstep?

And which is preferred?

petrol = shell is the best for 8s? and which type?
and if i were to use shell can i switch to other brands like SPC when my tank is low?

I don't know if I want a salesman-person driving my 8 off the lot...
Besides, I'd rather inspect the vehicle before signing on the dotted line...

Many threads about octane and something in the owners manual too.

y wld u wan him to deliver to ur doorstep??? best is collect at his place!! so that he dun whack ur car while on route to ur hse......

anyway MM policy is u collect ur car at the warehse.....

as for petrol wise, there is no one brand that is preferred. All brands can be used. All down to ur brand loyalty....

I'm real anal about people touching my car, so the less they drive it, the better it is for me. I collected my car at MM's warehouse just next to the port, didn't even let them drive it to the showroom for me.

As for petrol, I have used Shell, SPC, and Caltex. I think the difference is marginal. I used to think that SPC was better, but now I feel that Shell/Caltex gives me better mileage. And I don't see why you can switch brands when your tank is low, as long as it is of the same octane.

Hi,

Of course collect the car yourself. Check everything, make sure all is okie before you sign on the dot .... I am using SPC and Shell. Both are pretty much the same. Yes, Shell gives you slightly better mileage. :)

Sis, collect the car at the P.I is better lah...y wld u want the sales engineer to
rob u of driving ur baby home for the 1st time? Its worth every secs of it... :)

I think when u collect the car, juz check if there r any visible damage to the car
n the mileage done...the rest shldn't be a problem...n oh remember to
immediately go to the gas station to fil ur car up...when i collected my car 3 mths
ago, i was so excited abt it...i forgot to fil up...halfway home n i realise that its
almost empty (changi to woodlands very far)...I was on the expressway, stuck
in a jam n no gas station in sight...so i had to do everything i can imagine to
save fuel...switch off the aircon...close the windows...step very lightly n do a shift
b4 2500 rpm...I think i almost fainted from the heat... :mdrmed:

Abt the engine oil...u dun really have to worry...its usually enough for u to go up
to 5000km for mineral...I dun really c the need for u to do a check b4 u go for
the 1st 1000km servicing...the engine couldn't possibly burn so much engine oil
for 1000km...
Mazda did release a memo a while ago to all rotary owners that only mineral
oil shld be used...but shld u decide to get synthetic oil...go for synthetic oils
that r formulated for rotaries...non rotaries synthetic oil will not burn completely
in our engine n will eventually damage the apex seal which means u gotta
rebuild ur engine...but i wld recommend useage of rotary formulated synthetic
oil after ur 5000km servicing lah...

Hope this will help u go sis...dun worry so much lah...juz enjoy ur car...i know
u'll love it... ;)

Ermm... sorry, but didn't you get an Evo? Don't need rotary synthetic oils coz it's not a rotary engine. However, stick to mineral oils during the run-in period then switch to synthetic if you like.

Ha ha.. paiseh.. different gal. But advice on the oil during run-in period remains the same. As for petrol, no particular brand is good or bad for the 8. Fuel consumption depends a lot on the way you drive and less on the brand/type of petrol. I've been doing some FC testing recently and got 482km out of my previous tank of ESSO 95 though it's not the most I've managed. Brand/type of petrol is individual preference like what coupe07 said, for me it's whichever company gives me a good discount/convenience/locations.

nope.....no spare tyre...only have whipped cream(thats what my SE said to me) as the spare tyre kit.

but you can buy the spare tyre kit as an option. quite expensive though...about 800++

hmm the whipped cream got me thinking rather erotic thoughts. Then the tyre repair reference deflated it all.
