Do u have Diamond Hex speakers?
http://www.diamondaudio.com/products...&line=4&model=

Silver_Z 09-24-2006 09:26 PM

Nope, can try to order, but won't be cheap. The reason why the M series are cheap now, is that Diamond Audio has already stop production of the M series and clearing stock.

gfoo 09-24-2006 09:39 PM

can either be direct replacements of our stock without any special, add fabrication?

Silver_Z 09-24-2006 10:06 PM

This I not sure...... Coz I have yet to get my car and open the door panel to see how the inside looks like. I think should be ok. its a 6.5" speaker.

Was checking thru the audio section of this forum and found that the front speaker size are 6 X 9, therefore a wood panel should be made to fit the 6.5" speaker. You can also choose not to make an additional panel by just securing the speaker with 2 screws and leaving gaps. I personally recommend the use of panels, for better sound and it is easily available at most audio shops.

I'm actually looking for a pair of reasonable quality front speakers

and was told that our front is 5 x 7 and not 6.5 or 6 x 9.

6.5 would be able to fit but need to have a frame.

even though 5 x 7 is a less common size but advantage is

it is normally available in co axial 2 or 3 way. examples are rainbow, soundstream, pioneer, pyle, alpine etc..

my ideal would be 3 way component but finding space to fit the component

is quite a headache leh.

out of curiousity, the M661 has a peak power of 170W but only a RMS of 20W?

the M361 is listed as a 2 way component but it has a subwoofer, mid bass and tweeter?

will we be able to test the sound quality before we buy?

Its not a headache, cos all u need is another wooden adapter for the 6.5inch midbass speakers and as for your tweeter, u can either install in on your front pillar either my direct screw on or modified the pillar with a tweeter holder, but if u do not wish to do any drillings/modifications can just hav it lie flat on the front dash board.

But one thing for sure if u are using the original head unit, u will need to hav a amp, cos our original headunit is not powerful enough.

U can pay me a visit and I show u what I did to my car and another car (both cars had diff speakers for diff kind of music), and u can listen and decide what kind of sound and speakers do u want/like.

Silver_Z 09-25-2006 08:58 PM

Hmm..... Unless it is the Type E uses a different size of speakers. The owner claim that his was 6 X 9. Anyway, the speakers can be tested. The M361 is installed in our car for demostration of how it will sound like with the Mazda original factory HU with amps installed.

Sorry. Didnt check the specs before posting that utter rubbish link. Here's another link to the specs of M661. Hope this will provide you more accurate info. :)

As for the M361, it is a 2 way component. I wonder why the specs states 3 speakers. Here's another link for the M361 specs.

We also have stock for Diamond Audio Subs, if you are interested. These subs are designed for sound quality and not power boom! :cwm27:

Yo bro, how did you connect your amp to the Mazda headunit? With converter or you use a High input amp?

thanks morgan bro. i might juz take u up on yr offer when i'm around bishan.

actually many ppl do an MDF frame to fit the 6.5" 2 way component.

the headache is if u go for 3 way component, then there is no place.

i'm thinking of putting in a 5 x 7, 3 way co axial for the front and surprisingly

I read somewhere that for the 8, the back speakers is the same size as the front?

No worries about the amps, I have 2 amps sitting in my storeroom.

like what Silver Z was asking, did u connect to a preamp, DSP before the amp?

abbid,

nowadays they don't make amps like they used to. yr friend's DA amp,

there are like gold now, just like the old soundstream reference series,

still very much in demand and ppl are willing to pay lots for this series.

the old school amps are really handmade in USA,

nowadays the amps are coming out from china, taiwan etc..

Just to side track a bit, I have fallen in lurv with this amp.

The Soundstream "Human Reign 2 or 4" Limited Edition. Only S$7000.00 a piece.

bro,

i don't think the front is 6 x 9 lah, too big.

most probably is 6 x 8 inclusvie of frame.

so the speakers can test bro?

I use a Hi-low convertor and a pre-amp.

I had a old soundstream 4x50W amp too. Its the last few bratch made in USA .
Although its a 4x50W amp, its producing mcuh more than 50W, cos most of the older amps are underated, that means if it state 50W , the amp will be able to go much more than 50W.
Now a days some of the amps stateds 50W that means that it can go to a MAX of 50W.

And most of us buy amps and pay extra for the output Watts, Watts is not everything, it the component used within the amp.
There are some amps that are only 15W but are able to power some speakers that some 80W's amp can't.

original front is not 6x9. The shape is oval but smaller than 6x9.

To fit in a 6.5 component, need to do up a wooden frame. Any audio shops will be able to do that.

Peter C, CDT entry level component speaker has pretty decent sound quality and is rather value for money. The best is to buy according to ur budget. Most reputable USA brands have gone the china way.... so not much quality speakers come from USA. For sound clarity and quality, u can try rainbow. If you have ur old school amps, take them all out. They are the best bet afterall....

having said all that, i have some old speakers and amps lying around. Let me post them in a few days time to see if u r interested. Lelong lelong section.

Sneak preview = rockford amp, kicker sub, infinity 6x9, alpine amp and a few others. Sorry to say, the phoenix gold is not for sale again.

BlackEight 09-26-2006 11:47 PM

Ah MAN,

Actually I set my mind on Diamond Hex S600 oso, like Morgan,
that's why I'm interested to hear the sound quality of the old series.

But Ken from King's was telling me he got a Rainbow 2 way 5" x 7"
sui sui for our 8.

No lah, i was juz making a statement that old school amps and speakers are really well made.

I've got an old school "Autotek 222" "Mean Machine" and a big 4 way bridgeble
Alpine amp oso but spolit and contemplating whether to fix it or buy new amp.

Yr Octane R is good stuff lah, should keep it.
Got this guy on SGSound selling Octane R Monoblock, perfect match with yours!

Bro, sure can test. We have the M361 installed in our demo car. As for the M661, we can only test by connecting it to the amp to show you that it is working. As for sound quality, you can't really hear it unless it is installed in the enclosure. Mabbe I can try find a box to fake as an enclosure for you.

What brand of Hi-Lo converter are you using? I was recommended Scosche and Alpine 4311. The Alpine seems expensive, but it has a remote output to turn on your amp when it sense the signal from your speaker cable, and also requires power to probably boost the line out signals. As for Scosche, it is cheaper and you are able to adjust the signal on the unit.

Scosche
