Cheaper in Hong Kong?

Hi guys,

just wanna check, are the parts/accessories for your 8s in Hong Kong cheaper?! Maybe going Hong Kong around oct so wondering if it's cheaper there... :P

lennon 08-07-2005 11:13 AM

It's definitely cheaper. The problem is that whether they have stock. Last time i went to HK, i stop by Crazy Racing. I was totally disappointed with that shop cause they dont stock any rx8 stuff. GT-sports however has a bigger chance of getting something for your car(i think so).

Why no one ask me that... I am so Hong Kong local - written in my forehead?
Does anyone just assume I am a Japanese LOL :D

Hey GT-sport is the biggest con shop in the world and just went bust (caput) last year. Some good man in the business has branched out and set up shops in Mong Kok. Care should be taken with some of these shops. I dealed with Top Racing (although it is not quite assessible from Public transport). They seems to be very honest people, at least in my experience. Boyboydan is local there owning one of less than 50 RX-8 in Hong Kong.

Forget about MazdaSpeed and Mazda Option in Hong Kong. They are pricey. MazdaSpeed stuff will be at RRP so bugger them :o. I rather go to Japan and visit the super autobarc myself :o

If you own a Mini, Golf, EVO, STi or Honda Type R - then Hong Kong is heaven. Everything is in stock and running the same discounted price as in Japan. Just not for RX-8 though.

PM me if you need some contact. I may be able to show you a few thing. But I think SG local or Malaysia maybe a better option for you lot.

My experience is the in stock stuff they have will be about 70-80% of the price I can get here. I think there is still a Autoexe distributer in Mong Kok but otherwise all the rotary brands are not available.

Taka,
I heard Top Racing setup a new shop in a hill site area. That's why me lazy to go (summore the taxi quite expensive, the meter ticks like my heart beep, nearly heart attack!!!:p ). So had to go shops located near the subway.

In Malaysia, i can only get prices which is slightly higher than the list price. which includes the trading house fee, transport fee, taxes and finally the local dealer. thats why most of us will eager to shop like crazy when we have the chance to travel. HEHEHeee...

takahashi 08-08-2005 08:16 AM

Hill side, not at Mid Level. Right? They have to sell tonnes of mods to meet a month's rent :p

They are in the heart of industrial area in Kowloon (Kowloon Bay). You can get a taxi from Kowloon Bay MTR station and save some dough.

I see if I order from Malaysia then it is better to order via Japanparts.com. Local shop here can get anything too, of course with a price. :o

But HKS, Defi, Tein are in stock  ... that is why I am so frustrated when my wife tells me we need to bring the stupid stroller for our baby girl when we go back to Hong Kong/Macau.

lennon 08-08-2005 11:48 AM

Hahahhaha, i guess you have to wait for second trip back to get those "'s"!!! This time must make sure your daughter can run!!!:D

takahashi 08-08-2005 06:07 PM

I am conuting the day she is moving out. It is only 17 years 2 months, 13 days and 15 hours (assuming that she is leaving for his bf at midnight :p.

I realise the 8 is not popluar there. The 8 (and its parts) does not even appear in auto magazines there. I was the in Apr and a 2 weeks back. And i did not see any 8s at all on the roads or showrooms.

Correct me if i am wrong but its what i experienced.

takahashi 08-09-2005 05:20 PM

You sumed it up pretty well.

You prob have to hold a gun for the Mazda dealer there to show you an 8 :p. I only know of ONE 7 there!

Tonnes of Civic Type R though. And tonnes of Mercs

Ever thought of putting a couple tiens on the stroller... I think that could look cool... Couple of dampers would give the stroller a softer ride. I'm sure Alyssa won't complain.....

Vanquish 08-10-2005 03:15 AM

Guys... this is a serious thread about getting stuffs in Hong Kong...

Pls refrain from having discussion on how to eject your children ( especially young girls ) into the sky... this aint a F-16 forum!!

:D :D :D

lennon 08-10-2005 08:22 AM

Ejecting your baby??? Taka, you're out of your mind!!!!:D

:D :D :D

We are having a serious discussion... putting tiens on a stroller is serious business... still need to decide on the springs... as for ejection, maybe taka has a bad back and can't bend. Isn't it easier to use the eject and catch method.

:D Then I'd suggest to kit the stoller with an undercarriage brace, plus front and back struts....ejection would do too much damage to the chassis otherwise. Could probably get those in HK :p

Vanquish 08-10-2005 01:34 PM

Man.... if this goes on, the stroller gets a new set of rubbers together with alloy wheels and maybe even side skirts and GT-wing on the handles... :(

Bro, with you around... there's a good chance we see such a stroller as a Singapore 1st?! :D

takahashi 08-11-2005 04:14 AM

So what do you reckon. Tein flex or super street for the stroller? EDFC? ;) :D

Depends... do you plan to jog with the stroller ? Personally ...flex. no need EDFC, because when you try to soften the damper, you might wake up the baby...

2 x 7 inch LCDs ... great for playing "Nemo" and "Incredibles".
