My carbon kevar hood is heavier than the stock Alumin Hood.

Emperor 08-30-2006 06:18 AM

If its heavier than why change it? And non-metallic materials trap heat.

I was looking for a CF bootlid but its not readily avalible. Way better than a CF bonnet IMO.

Just for the looks, cos the two head lights looks better with a black hood.

mandotcom 08-30-2006 11:28 AM

Hi Jimsssss,

Will load into my own shipment container (will inform my workers to load with care and place on top the goods) and should be OK for handling by my own company. We handle lots of glassware and put extra protection in packing. Price should be below SG$1000 as we will pay GST and some freight handling cost. I dunno about the payment issue (maybe you give me a 50% deposit).

The company export this hoods to USA.

i have one CF hood in MG leh..... lighter than stock RX8 bonnet...... u nvr see meh....

Jasontan_sg 08-30-2006 11:54 PM

The original bonnet is already very light and made of aluminium, not sure why people still want to change. Aluminium are used to reduce heat which CF cannot. Unless those CF hood with vent to allow heat to escape from the engine when you are caught in a traffic jam, because our climate are very hot, otherwsie I don't see a need to buy one.

Spend your money on others more important area like improve the handling, the performance that you will have more fun driving it. dressing up the car too elegance but cannot perform, what for. Only invite unwanted vandalize to your car or Traffice police target and it happen to me so I have already changed back to the original bonnet at the expend of 2K respraying my car, because it was vandalized ever since I used the CF bonnet.

Ive got a CF Hood on my car. 4 months. The once shiny glossy touch and look is almost gone now. Looks like the lacquer has been eroded off... what a let down.

yes... you need to have the UV :shocking: treatment lacquer. My friend HONDA Jazz Hood from the same supplier for 1year plus, still looking good.

Nope. I meant a total replacement for the bootlid and not an add on.

Like Jason said. CF traps heat; aluminium is good. In the civic days we changed our steel bonnet to aluminium beacuse its lighter and disperse heat well. Partly beacuse CF is not common yet or at least CF does not costs less than 5 digits yet.

Or how about plastic bonnet with air brushed designs? Ultra light and ultra cool. Epsecially those with air brushed engines or just plain clear plastic. Seem quite popular with show cars in the states.

My oil temp and water temp is the same with and with out the CF hood.

All the plastic cover above the engine is more restrictive and prevent the heat from dispersing from the engine.

ButTheres a thread by some of the USA members stating that the oil and water temp is actually lower with the plastic hood ,

Why....??? I guess its the wind that force the hot air out of the car while its moving. and so with and with out CF hood or the plastic does not made and diff when the car is moving. (maybe the temp will be higher if we are caught in a traffic jam)
