Don't smoke in the car. Or someone's cig landed in your car.

No joke, once i had a female passenger who flicked her cig out to only have it landed in the rear.

if its not your clutch, (that you've been riding), it could be a plastic bag that wrapped itself around the exhaust. it happened to me 2 weeks ago. it was a taco bell bag that got stuck and melted on my exhaust (piping right after the catalytic converter).

I hate these uncivilised barbarians who dispose plastic bags on the roads. I had one stuck to my exhaust and it cause a little plastic stain in additon to the smell.

99% is plastic stuck to your exhaust. the smell wont wear off i think. u hav to start the car and warm up the exhaust, if not the plastic very hard to come off. then scrape off. but best is servicing time while car is hoisted, easier to scrape.:)

mikeferz42 08-03-2007 02:54 PM

the smell wore off on mine after i scraped the plastic off. i sanded it down with 100 grit sandpaper because the plastic got too melted.

flyingmuffyn 08-06-2007 02:55 PM

the smell's gone oredi...i didn't get to see any plastic bag stuck on the exhaust or other creepy crawlies glued to the muffler...i guess wadever wuz stuck there juz melted away..
