245/40R18 tyres on original 18" rims

The original size is 225/45R18 but not all brands have this size so i'm thinking of changing to 245/40R18. Is this ok? any problems?

Having it now and yes, confirm no problem and it looks very nice.

If you lower your ride about 2 fingers space 245 will fill all the gap space.

Sorry, but I thought 245 is the width of the tire that is in contact with the road, so technically a 245 does not fill the gap any better than a 225. It's the side wall thickness, the /40 or /45, and lowering that would "fill the gap" of the wheel well. Just take note that lowering has to be done properly else you might bottom out and results could be disasterous.

opsss ...

you are right ! 245 = width and 40/45 = thickness of the sidewall ...

but i always think i have a bigger tire ... probably the gap space in my car create an illusion of me ... and I did lower my ride for couple fingers space ... but left with 1.5 finger space in between ... cross my finger so far my bottom does scream at the moment
