Top Gear Mag Review

Jusy bought the new mag with a TT crosfire RX-8 350z test done in LA and out in the desert
Basics are reviewer goes for 350z then RX-8 then TT and last Crossfire
The mazda comes out pretty well but hasn't got the straight line speed to see off the 350z (read the article as a drag race forms a big part of the review) I don't think I will get chance to scan it in today. I'm sure one of you will oblige.

Tested in LA?? So this tells us nothing about the Euro spec performance or handling on UK roads. Does it tell us anything we don't already know?

But great news that it beats the TTC which is highly considered in the motoring world (perhaps not so with general public).

I will try and get a copy of the articles scanned in this afternoon, if not it will be this evening.

You can send it to me...

I usually am pretty good about resizing it to make it smaller and still readable.

I'll buy it and read it over the weekend.

What I dont understand is that Jezza absolutely slated the 350Z (and he is Mr Top Gear), so how can the journo's at the mag then pick that same car against the 3 others?

Bought it today....

Nice pics, will read it later and post my opinions, maybe the article if no one beats me to it.

They are all the same colour, silver, the 8 does look the best with the TT second IMHO.

Cheers

Nissan probably sorted out its quality issues since Jezza slated it. Maybe thats why its nosed ahead.

Does Mr Clarkson have that much influence on car manufacturers then??

This review only confirmed what I thought. If you only need two seats and have a slightly bigger budget then there are better cars to be had , if you want 4 proper seats then the RX-8 is the best choice. My drag racing days are (almost) over anyway.:D ;)

Not so, Clarkson tested a Japanese Fairlady-Z and Top-Gear a US car. The specs are pretty much the same. The UK car will be different again and supposedly better still.

So that means that the Nissan will streak ahead even further away from the (two seat) pack ?

Top Gear mag and Top Gear TV seem to be run from 2 different places I think.
This is not the first time that there has been a huge mismatch.

Remember the RS Focus ? Top Gear TV slated it for the evil diff and handling problems. Other car mags (EVO for instance) slated it and said this car is "fundamentally flawed".
Top Gear Mag then made it not only "drivers car of the year" but overall car of the year ! Go figure ??

TV and other mags slated it (and Jezza even said it was dangerous) , TG mag make it car of the year. - Proof indeed something is odd.

I for one dont think the 350Z holds a candle to the RX8. The spec is just too different. Costs more , 2 seats , yadda yadda....

Any ideas if this was a US or UK spec car they reviewed?

The article refers to 228bhp, but if it was in the US would it not have been a 247bhp car?

If it was US spec its even more disappointing it got out-dragged by a 215bhp crossfire :( as ours would be even further behind.

I think we can safely assume that Mazda UK wouldn't have shipped a UK car out to Nevada just so Top-Gear could test it. They can't even get one for me to try in Cambridge! It was a US car and I've made the same comment about the Crossfire (0-60 1 sec slower) beating it on the dyno poll thread. There's a problem here and I ain't happy kiddies.

EDIT: However this is encouraging. The wheels are moving (pun intended).
