television

I guess we should be seeing a series of TV reviews of the RX-8 soon, what with Fifth Gear starting on the 13th and Top Gear due a new series soon. Driven also apparently has a go, but I'm not sure when, and there may even be other programmes I am unaware of.

Here's hoping they are a bit more exciting than the Pulling Power review!

Anyway, if any other news crops up on TV, please drop it into this thread so we can all keep up with the TV stuff, especially as there may be some local channels that screen reviews before others.

Cheers

Stu C

EDIT : I do know there is a MEDIA NEWS thread, but it covers everything, not just UK, and all we need here is a 'did you know x is on on day y?' or a 'x review was pretty cool' for a useful summary or two. Ta.

Driven has now moved to Men and Motors (as I think it was dropped by Channel 4)

Don't know when the new series starts though.

Pulling Power really is dismal. But look on the bright side, at least the RX8 was reviewed by the dizzy old bird, Michelle "oow slap me" Newman (she did actually say that while driving the 8), rather than the tedious twonk Mike "wouldn't you prefer a nice enonomic diesel instead" Rutherford, who makes me want to spit teeth. It doesn't even have Gail Porter for a bit of eye candy these days.

:D At least she was really enthusiastic about the RX8. I've watched her review 100's of times (I've copied the clip onto my phone so I can show people how cool the car is!). I asked a showbiz friend what credentials Michelle has, given that a reviewer's opinion must be based upon some great experience with the motor industry. His reply was "didn't you know, she's the producer's wife!". That explains a lot. I can't verify this is true though, so Michelle, don't sue me.

Yes she did seem to like the car a lot, hence the "slap me" line as she headed up the rev range. The comment made in the office (not by me mind) was "what does she know, being a girlie, probably just liked the colour".

I also taped that segment, and watched it a few more times that is healthy, and eventually had to hide the tape from myself - so well I've now lost it, and suspect I have recorded over it. :-(

My phone doesn't do videos, but I've made several different screen saver pictures of the RX8 to go on it. My avatar being a smaller version of one of them.

Cheers
