Spoke to Mazda

I spoke to Mazda this morning.

I asked if they could give me any info on delivery.

They said END OF SEPTEMBER for our cars and beginning of September for Dealer demonstrators!

This is once again a slippage from their May letter to Dealers and I expressed my displeasure.

I asked when we would be advised a definate date but they couldn't tell me. They said letters had been going out in June but I certainly haven't got one yet.

Perhaps more should call and see if this answer is consistant.

Cheers
Oilman

Getting concerned...

I bought my reg back in January , and we only have 12 months to put it on a vehicle !

End of Sep , surely not... :(

AnilS 06-19-2003 05:21 AM

Oilman, as soon as I saw your thread, I contacted ny dealer. He confirmed that the UK Dealer Launch was the 8th to 12th Sept. Thats when they get their demos, and later for our deliveries. So your right, END OF SEPTEMBER for our cars.
He also mentioned that the Blue car will re-appear at the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon (Warwickshire) on the 27th July. Spaces are limited (and you can bring one guest) but the sessions are 10am til 11am, and 11am til 12pm, with a group of 20 (max) to do whatever to the car (except drive it). That means only 40 spaces! This also includes a champaine reception and there will be an accessories exhibition for the 8.

It can be renewed for £25 as I'm sure you know ;)

I have just spoken to my dealer and he was vauge about delivery although he mentioned September. From reading the thread, I am having to resign myself to the fact that it will be the end of September before I get the object of my desires.

Chris :(

Lensman - yeah , like I read the Ts+Cs.... :)

Looks like Mazda are going to have at least one unhappy pre-order on the 8th July.

I intend to express my anger over the delays, the wait is really becoming unacceptable and unreasonable!!

Oh and yes, my Dealer confirmed this AM that the car I will see is the substandard, non UK spec, blue one that's doing the rounds.

What about the nice RED one in the European press pack??

I always thought the RX-8 was supposed to be out before the 350z here...

MarkW 06-19-2003 06:16 AM

There was a time when I was getting very racked off about the delays and spec changes etc.

Now I just cant seem to be bothered anymore. I have accepted the fact it will be late September even early October before I get my car.

Disappointed, yes, but basically, it comes when it comes and there is s0d all we can do about it.

Cheers
Mark

AnilS,

Were you told you could bring a guest? I was specifically told I had to go on my own and I even expressed my disappointment at not being able to take someone.

Someone somewhere is wrong. I just wish that they could get thier facts right and be consistent.

Cheers
Mark

The Z is out on October 1st so theoretically they might just make it by a day or two.

Probably the most annoying thing of this saga IMO. I hear more rumours about the RX8 than I do office gossip at the moment and this is because we are not getting a consistant (or any ) message from Mazda UK or it's dealers.

I can live with a delay in delivery as long as I know when to expect my car. I've got a lot of things to arrange some with long lead times (like privately seeling my current car) and so the sooner I can schedule these things the better.

Now I sound like a project manager!

Delivery Delays

Just spoke to my dealer - knew nothing on delivery times, letter etc, etc...however has promised to go and get more info from Mazda. Have to say late Sept and without a confirmed date is just a couple of weeks too far...I may regret it but looking more and more like cancelling(decision this weekend) so one of you will get their car earlier.

what colour were you again black knight?

AnilS 06-19-2003 08:06 AM

MarkW, my dealer (Brooklyn - Redditch)said that I could take a guest. He even remembered that my wife has still to see the car (she not convinced its for me) and said she could be THAT guest.

Dealer told me has spoken with Mazda - and it may be the beginning of october before cars start trickling through to the UK - this is consistent with what we know. So watch this space to see what I decide over the weekend. I'm pretty bummed at poor customer care and delays on Mazdas part

Unless things have changed they are supposed to be producing the first 1000 UK cars in July, shipping them in August (takes about a month) and delivering them to customers in September. "Trickling" shouldn't come into it. There are less than 1000 orders so far and they will all arrive in one big batch.

It is possible there has been a change of plan. But its probably more likely that your dealer hasn't got a clue and just said the first thing that came into his head to give you the impression that he was staying on top of things (I wonder if they go on courses where they practice doing this....)

cw007 06-19-2003 12:57 PM

you know is really pissy about all of this for me.....

I go on my delayed honeymoon on the 31st August for 2 weeks. Will miss everything BAH!!!!!

Then again 2 weeks at the Sandals Halcyon is probably better than the launch of this mota.

Here i get a feelin that after all these delays its going to be such an anti-climax

Re dates

ChrisW,

Actually to be fair no, - I believe he did go and speak with Mazda - now if Mazda are misleading dealers thats another story. BTW perhaps Mazda are lowering exectations in order to deliver 'early' say mid sept then everyone will be pleased forgetting about the original delays......yeah right!
