I have a black RX8 2004 no mods grand touring package with 2 tone burnt orange and black interior... Actually thinking about selling it. But still I have one I live in Kaiserslautern which is near Ramstein. I am stationed there as well.

paulmasoner 01-27-2009 09:15 AM

K-town ftmfw... i hear the place is a blast

Stuttgart - i have zero experience, but will be bringing a boosted 8 and would LOVE to get into it, in fact i intend to. I've seen your posts/vids... wonder what times you'd pull with a 350whp 8?

StuttgartRX8 01-27-2009 11:42 AM

We will soon see I'm going to try to be boosted by mid summer. My last time I went there I pulled a 8:27 and it was the first time no one rode with me.

paulmasoner 01-27-2009 11:49 AM

nice! I'll be boosted in June, and be out there in the fall. Im sure our paths will cross one day

Renesisgrl 10-13-2009 06:59 AM

I wish I was going this coming weekend...I flooded my car 2 weekends ago and have been waiting for parts from California. There is nothing I hate more than our lack of fast postal service :icon_no2: so far it's been over a week shipped express post.
Have fun :wink2:

I think its a bit too late for that. 30 degrees (F) today, and for the rest of the week! I wasn't expecting it to get so cold so fast. I wanted to take it to the track this year, but I'm not so sure now. Maybe this weekend...

Mo

jezek301 12-19-2009 07:59 AM

Mochocolate, are you the Red RX8 on Patch Barracks? I have the Nordic Green RX8. I am actually thinking of selling it.

I think so I used to see Mochocolate parked over by the car wash.

I saw your nordic green the other day when I was at lunch

jezek301 12-20-2009 05:43 AM

Stuttgart RX8, which one do you have? I'd like to take a look a yours someday with all the mods you have. I am seriously thinking about bringing my 85 GSL-SE over here also.

I have the silver one with black winter wheels on it right now, I work off base but I usually go to patch for lunch. I think I saw your car one day over by the bank on patch.

jezek301 12-20-2009 01:40 PM

I think I saw you as well. I usually park near the bank on the end. I won't be driving it as much now that it's winter.

Renesisgrl 12-30-2009 05:20 AM

Just a heads up...I was having issues with my 8 and took it to the dealership a few months ago (they still have it) I called Mazda USA and they told me that when you take the car out of the country, your warrenty is void. So if you need warranty work done. It is prob better to wait until you take it back to get it fixed...unless of course you bought it here.
I am finding that it is next to impossible to get mazda USA to help!

jezek301 12-30-2009 06:49 AM

Yeah, that happens a lot when you bring a new car from the states. The warranty is only good for the good old US. Mine is a 2004 so my warranty is no more. I hope everything works out ok for you.

I thought they extended the engine warranty to 100k miles or 8 years??

arexeight04 12-31-2009 05:39 AM

I sold the RX8 I had to a young guy over in Spang... Great car but bought my skyline back after failing to find a suitable STI. I also picked up a Cadillac CTS for a weekend cruiser...

Still give advice on maintnance and stuff but for the most part out of the scene guys... You might see a badazz skyline flying past you in Germany though. Might even catch Space ghost or better description my cadillac riding around but other then that the rotary years are over...

jezek301 12-31-2009 06:37 AM

I thought it was 5 year/50,000 miles, but I could be wrong. Either way, if there is something I can do to help, let me know. I am flying back to the states for a couple of weeks, but if I can get you something carwise, let me know.

LYAutobot 12-31-2009 08:42 AM

I have my RX8 here in Germany too and was told by Mazda USA that the warranty is not covered here in Germany. However I was also told by them that if the car is still under warranty when you return to the states you can try and file a claim with Mazda USA with the repair bills and they will review your claim. No promise of repayment of course but it would be worth a try if it was a extreme repair. I try to fix everything I can myself. I review many threads on this forum when I have any issues and have been able to self diagnose that way. What is the issue you were having? Maybe post the problem you were having with your 8 and someone may have had the same issue themselves and can tell you what to do.

StuttgartRX8 12-31-2009 09:46 AM

This why I bought mine from here, I almost bought one in the states before moving over.

Renesisgrl 01-01-2010 05:09 AM

I have engine failure. The rear rotor has no compression at all. There was no issues when the weather was still warm but as soon as it started getting cold out, that was it. I thought it was a hot start problem, changed out all the wires, put in better plugs and new coils. Still had trouble.
So anyhow, the dealership here said it was a mechanical problem and they are going to do a rebuild :( That was when I found out about the warranty extension. Dealer had to bring in a special mechanic to do it...they are thinking about 2 to 3 more weeks.
The down side is the engine break in period. Can I do all 1000 miles in one day? I read up on it but there is nothing about driving times. Has anyone done this before??

jezek301 01-01-2010 09:00 AM

I have blown motors before in my RX7 and my Cosmo (which is still getting rebuilt going on two years now), but I don't know if you can do 1000 in a day. I supposed if you take it easy then it shouldn't be a problem. What year is your RX-8? Any idea how you blew the engine?

PNTitBLK_07 01-01-2010 04:55 PM

Renesisgirl, i am sorry to hear about your engine, is mazda going to honor yor warranty or is it all coming ou tof your pocket?

I recall reading something that mentioned each car was designed to be operated in whatever market...blah blah blah... it really sounds like another BS way for Mazda to get out of doing warranty work. I cant really think of anything over here in deutchland that american spec cars werent designed to handle...are the german spec 8s really any different?

I bought an 05'. They are not to sure why the engine blew, but they think it was like that for a couple years :(

Mazda USA and Mazda Europe are from what I gather two separate companies. The Mazda USA said that I will have to pay up front for the rebuild, then submit all the receipts, pictures of the interior of the engine, letter from the German dealer saying what they think is wrong and all the oil receipts since the car was bought.
What annoys me is they want the receipts for oil changes since it was first purchesed. Mine is second hand, so I can only do it from when I bought the car. I really doubt I am going to get anything back from them.

The_Beast 01-03-2010 05:28 AM

Oh man, I'm really nervous about my car now. Its been having rough starts and horrible mileage lately, so I have new plugs on order, and hopefully that will help. I'm scared to take it to the dealer and find out it has low compression, cuz I don't think I can afford a rebuild right now. That sucks about the receipts, I've been doing the last few oil changes myself. :( Oh well. I guess we'll find out...

jezek301 01-03-2010 07:58 AM

I would also suggest getting a second opinion from another mazda dealer. Sometimes one dealer will be more helpful than another.

Get it checked! That is how mine started, not wanting to start...having to turn the key 10-15 sec. Mazdatrix has plugs for hard starts.

Beast...where are you located?

paulmasoner 01-04-2010 09:09 AM

the warranty thing isn't about different specs, its about division of the company, MNAO and whatever mazda of europe calls themselves. i've never looked into filing claims after you return to the states, but getting Mazda to cover anything warranty related on a US car over here in Europe is flat out not going to happen.

g0rdhan 01-05-2010 12:23 AM

germany owners!! im staying in the stuttgart region, specifically around mühlacker... anyone around there???? ill be here for about 2 weeks!!

I didnt think it was a bout different specs, its just about MNAO being douches when it comes to warranty coverage. I beleive they will try and back their warranty refusal (douchbaggery) by saying that the car wasnt designed to operate in this reigion of the world or some crap like that.

I recall comming across something to that affect while reading their warranty policies...in my owners manual i think...I would confirm that but i am at work right now and kinda busy...something that personnel from some other fire departments know nothing about.:D:
