Rotary & Related Costs

I am new to the rotary engine concept (& to be honest still not 100% convinced I will like it either compared to say a turbo or V6) but love the shape of the car etc.

I just wondering if service costs are higher than for normal engines, also at what regularity (annual?) and will parts be more expensive? Because of the uniqueness of the engine they may have to charge a premium?

Also, will the average RAC/AA man have a clue should we break down?

Thanks,

The maintenance costs are going to depend on alot of variables, just like it would on a piston engine. In the past, normally aspirated rotaries were on par with normally aspirated engines. The turbo FC ('86-'91) was basically on par with other factory engines of that time. But, the FD ('93-'99) had issues with the turbo setup and related parts, which makes it very very difficult and expensive to maintain.

Basically, what I'm saying is that we're not going to know until the car has been out for awhile. It doesn't look like it's going to be worse than normal piston engines, but you never know...
