Hydrogen powered RX-8

The hydrogen engine is a two port beast rather like the low power reneses I think.
no performance/stats have been released as yet. Sounds like a good future product, prolly not a conversion option, and hydrogen isnt exactly available. LPG still hasnt taken off that well either. May be a home conversion and a windmill powered hydrogen maker? Stuff those taxs mr blair!:) |
This is very interesting and I'm trying to get further info out of Mazda. I am surrently involved in a project to assess the engineering challenges and economics of hydrogen as an energy vector and the renesis engine solves one of the major problems - the injectors are always (sort of) cool to help prevent preignition.
We've mostly been looking at fuel cell cars, but internal combustion is going to be an important stepping stone for LPG and H2. The trickier problem is re-engineering every single filling station and every single gas main to handle H2 distribution. Oh - and I hope this doesn't upset Oilman too much! |
