Glad I didn't order in the end

Hi guys,

It's been a while since I looked at this forum. I hadn't realised things had become so bad with getting hold of the RX-8. I very nearly pre-ordered one a few months back, but wasn't able to as finances didn't quite allow it. Instead, I decided to go for a slightly cheaper car for now and look at an RX-8 in a couple of years time.

It seems I made the right decision. I really have a lot of sympathy for the way that many of you must be feeling right now. It seems that Mazda need more than a few lessons on PR. It seems their salesmen aren't the friendliest bunch either, or is that just all car salesmen? They soon change when you agree to hand over a large sum of money though.

I was at Wolverhampton Mazda this morning, ordering my new Mazda6 Sport. I wanted a yellow one, but apparently it was only a launch colour and is no longer available. I've gone for Titanium Grey because my current car is blue and I'm still thinking of red RX-8 next time.

I hope it all works out for those of you willing to hang in there and wait for what must be seeming like an eternity.

I have seen the 6 and been quite impressed, also with the reviews and that is why I am still willing to wait for the 8. If the 6 seems well built with good looks and sporty frame can you imagine what the 8 will be like. Pity you could not stretch the extra money, would have been worth it I think.

My father-in-law has a 03 Mazda6 Ts2, I was riding in it at the weekend and I was very impressed with the build quality. The interior was sturdy, the doors shut with a satisfying "thunk" the shut lines were small throughout the exterior. All in all I think Mazda seem to have made a significant jump forward from the old days.

I once had a 1994 Mazda 626 as a site car, I did over 50,000 miles in 9 months and the mechanics were sound but the inside was crap. Enough of the memories....

If the RX-8 matches the interior fit and finish I will be very happy.

I think Mazda have turned their business around. I've never looked at a Mazda before, never even considered buying one in the past. Until I saw and read about the new 6, then the RX8...and now I have one on pre-order.

Mazda have realised what Lexus realised what Toyota was not doing : quality car, reliable and affordable....with some class thrown in too.
