Excited Yanks !

Anyone else following the Americans in the main forums ?
It's really cool actually - they are getting really , really excited now.
Reports and sightings coming in all the time , and looks like the first of them will be today/tomorrow.

Although frustrating , it is great to see what we are going to be like in a few (well 16ish) weeks time ! :)

Looking forward to the first owner-review ! ! !

oilman 07-08-2003 06:33 AM

And there will be plenty of reviews over the next week or two.

I'm not sure why they're getting so agitated though, I wish ours were days away not MONTHS!!

Cheers

I think the closer it gets the more agony it is, as you start to think about it more.

It looks like we will get ours as soon as possible off the boats, unlike our north american cousins who have known for days that their cars are in the country.

On the bright side, it's only 20 days until our cars become reality on the production line. :)

I wonder who's will be built first on here. If it goes by EP order it will be Rael. I just hope that they get it right by the time thay have built 46 cars as mine in EP47 ;)

RobDickinson 07-08-2003 08:45 AM

See my other thread, cars will be supplied in pre-order order.

Hercules 07-08-2003 08:50 AM

I'm following you Brits too :)

Orders will still be fulfilled in the sequence in which they were received
by Mazda Motors UK Limited
This implies to me that it will be in the order they were keyed into Mazda's system (ie EP number), as opposed to pre-order date when deposits were given to dealers. Mazda UK only receive the order once it is entered on the system.

I guess we will have to wait and see.

Yes - it gets more intense the longer you have to wait. Over here the production cars landed on US soil on June 17th (3 weeks ago, not just a few days!) and still no deliveries to customers. Hence conspiracy theories, imagined issues with the cars etc and people getting into a frenzy. Latest info is that the delay is because Mazda is checking every single pre-order vehicle at port to make sure there are no issues at launch. Also Mazda is driving two production cars 15,000 miles around the USA over two weeks to see what kind of problems they get (went through my delearship in Houston last week).

I'll remind you that web orderers don't have an EP number but a number of the format RX8-200306. Perhaps there's another ID that covers both eventualities and of which we know not? Or maybe they're just doing me last...

i have to say it. The more they make before we get ours, the better they will be. All the problems will be ironed out and as factory workers get into the 'groove' and more comfortable with the new car, the better the quality will be.

Lensman,

Wasnt deliberately leaving you out :). There seem to be two order sequences, EP numbers for those who ordered through dealers, and numbers like yours for web orders.

They say they will allocate cars as they received orders so this should be regardless of order type.

ed hall 07-08-2003 02:02 PM

I am convinced the production will operate in a 'batch' type process. Pre -oderers in the first batch, then they will move onto the next batch, whether that be US, Japan etc etc

All our cars will arrive in one shipment irrespective of order/EPN no....it might be 2 or 3 boats though

c170673 07-08-2003 03:50 PM

I think ed is right, the salesman told me last night that the cars will be made in batches.

I.E. 1 Black one (mine I hope), 50 Titanium Greys, then followed by 50 Red etc....

Yanks are very quiet at the moment... no posts for ages.

Does this mean they are all out enjoying their new cars ???
Enquiring minds wanna know....

I would like to read;

"Picked up my car today, looks fantastic, even better than the show models a month earlier. Interior trim very European and not at all shiny, good quality comparable to Audi. Rear of the car transformed to mean looking beauty. Took car out for a couple of hours and no torque problems at all with wonderful engine noise. Tit grey gets all the looks, red looks a bit tacky with that two tone colour ball-up"

Or something similar......

:D

No cars yet. Depression has set in. I am going out for a walk, I could be gone for some time...

Edo 07-11-2003 07:33 AM

Apparently there are problems with cars in some states being released due to emmisson regs... They could yet end up with the same power as us!! Ho Ho...

oilman 07-11-2003 07:38 AM

I do feel sorry for our friends across the pond.

Their cars have been in port for 3 weeks!

Imagine the comments on this forum if the same happened here, what December delivery, you're kidding!!!

Let's pray now.

Cheers

I repeat what I jokingly said some weeks ago on a different thread;

" there is a reason why this model is called the 2004 version"

USA launch

Was in the US last week and the first deliveries are supposed to be at the end of this month.

USA today also had a brief review and generally liked the car but indicated that they expected it to burn oil regardless of what Mazda say and that the dipstick is in an awful position.

Run rates scheduled to be 12k in the first year and up to 30k I think in subsequent years - so substantial.

I'll be out again in early august so may test drive the american version for myself although, I'm still likely to cancel my car here.

Also - strong roumours that there will be the return of the turbo in 2006.

Finally the 350Z roadster is a stunner..

BK.
