Engine swap
Admins: sorry for double posting, but i thought i would get better coverage this way
Hi guys, I'm an Rx-8 owner from Romania and I've had a great deal of trouble with my car so far(apart from changing a lot of parts because of the bad roads). I'm on my second engine now and I have a serious fear that I might have problems with this one also(compression issues). I'm seriously contemplating an engine swap. If any of you know a company that is able to do that please point me in their direction(since I'm not from the usa, any tuner in any country will do just fine). The fact is i know very little about the legal aspects of this thing. This is why I'm not doing it myself here in Romania. I would prefer a serious tuning company that could also deal with getting the right paperwork after finishing the upgrade. What I'm interested in is a petrol turbo engine(something like the one on the impreza or the mazda mps 2.3 turbo engine) - i'm not sure if i can use the engine from another make on the mazda. Someone told me that there might be some copyright issues in the middle. Also I would absolutely love to be able to make it a 4wd. 1/4 mile races are extremely popular here and I'm up against some serious competition. Just to make sure I was clear enaugh: do you know of any tuners that would/could do the engine swap on the rx-8, and if so, what engine am I allowed to swap the renesis with? Thank you for your time and excuse me if this has been discussed before. The contents of the forum are quite large and I haven't watched it for quite a while now. |

You might swap it without changing the engine type. Just find a 3rotor and be ready to spend some big money here in Rome, Italy.
A part from that your fear of new eventual problem could be solved with the use of more specific products such as oil and lubes. If you need to drag race your car you might consider turbocharging your renesis and then again i could tell you the best place in the nation to do it at a reasonable price too (i would introduce you to the shop personally) |
