Just wonderinbg if anybody has actually had the ' I'm thinking of cancelling my order' conversation with their dealer and what the results have been.

The more I think about receiving the car in Oct and missing this summer and not being able to really appreciate the car until the week-ends when it will probably be pi$$ing down, the more I'm thinking of delaying until next spring. At that time there will be more colour choice, more real time reviews and possibly other options available.

I will need some incentive to pick up in Oct.

Had a conversation with that tw@t Sarainda at TW, who just said "can if you want someone will take your place, nothing I can do, or Mazda UK, you might as well wait." idiot.

No contact from my dealer even though I've left several messages to call. I don't think he's going to invite me to the roadshow so I want to hear his reaction when I phone him and ask where my invite is.:p

Rael, I had a chat with my dealer about cancelling last week. He didn't seem unduly upset if I did, and stated that they have a ready buyer to pick up my cancellation. Nice position for Mazda to be in, isn't it.
I also stated that I expect a full refund, and surprisingly, he agreed, saying that potential purchasers had not been treated well.
However, he did offer accessory vouchers and a track day (separate to the Prodrive event) for the car when it would arrive to compensate me, in what little way, for the delay. That said, he would not commit to a value for these vouchers.

I have just spoken to my dealer and he mentioned that they have had expressions of interest from 3 to 4 times the number of pre-orders who have said they will buy the car after test driving it.

He also said that in his opinion the lead times for new orders once the cars arrive will be getting on for 9 to 12 months. I assume this is based on the limited supply.

Not really realted to this thread but I thought it was worth a post any way.

If they have sold all 1000 preorders (or more) and we are now only getting 2000 per year I see this as probable.

When people see the car, adverts, and can test drive I expect initial demand to be higher than preorders. If it is , those 1000 iin the first year(?) wont last long. 9-12 month lewad times will be great for residuals, if its true expect a few Łk on list price for second hand motors in the first year.

If that demand holds then residuals should be great, Its not a limited production car though, so supply should eventualy catch up with demand, so it wont be an SLK/elise type residual car for the first 2-3 years I think.

I think it very doubtfull I'm gona sell witing 3-4 years tho - no cashing in for me.

I believe if Mazda were worried about demand, there would be plenty of advertising going on right now. The fact that they have kept pretty quiet about the car is in some way a sign of confidence.

Don't agree. I think there is an advertisement schedule but it just has not started as the car is not on the road. What is the point of winding up more people with a promise of delivery they cannot at this point keep.
