the darkness

Not the band by the way....

So, I got up at 5.30 this morning for work and it was pitch black, worked all day, went to visit my mother-in-law with the missus (I have a cool mother in law for a change!), and drove home at 8pm in the pitch black.

It has just struck me how much I will be driving my RX8 in the dark. Just how do we get the chance to show these things off, unless I skive work for a bit?

Right, that'll be Sundays only.....bugger. :(

Yep, its weekends only unless Im out on business. It would have been nice to have the car in July/August when there was some summer and light left but thats history now.

Look on the bright side, at least we will get to look at the cool guages lit up all the time, have the benefit of the xenon lights, and see the puddle lights light up when we open the car... :)

And everyone else driving behind you will wonder what the car in front is with the cool rear lights and fancy LEDs :D

Cheers
Mark

I am resigned to the fatc I will only see my lovely new RX8 in the daylight on weekends or through the window in the office.

Never mind, by next spring when the light are getting lighter again we will be used to our new cars and will have broken them in so the world will be our lobster.

Get a friend with one of those big pickup trucks with the row of floodlights above the cab, to drive along behind you illuminating the car.

Replace all the sodium street lighting with some white light bulbs.

Squeeze some cuttle fish and get an electro illuminescent paint job.

:)

... and there will be the "startling co-workers by jumping-up suddenly and gasping" problems whenever someone gets within a few feet of your car (or a few yards if it's a 4x4/SUV/get'em off tarmac-style vehicles ;) )

Yeah sadly enough I have even been thinking about which car-parking space will offer the most protection!

May have to get into the office even earlier!!

I will be leaving my car at the station every day, leaving in the dark and picking up in the dark and then in the dark all day worrying that it is still there when I ge there.

Eugh trafic has been a nightmare here the last few weeks, and parking is always bad. 2 months ago 9am was a problem, now 8:50 and you dont get a space. For all those who live local(not me) getting here 5 min early is easy:(

I can appreciate your anxiety.

What you need is an inflatable skip - blows up around the car to disguise and protected it. Comes complete with a realistic simulated old sofa sticking out of the top to prevent anyone actually using it to dump an old sofa. :)

Failing that, use the technique of parking next to something more expensive in a well lit area which has a lot of people walking past, and make sure the backend is the most visible as its less distinctive than the front.
