Any head-turning tales from the UK?

Got my RX-8 in June 2005, but still very much in love............! :p

Believe it or not, I've only ever seen 9 other RX-8s on the UK roads...
That said, one of them was a velocity red 8, like mine, which amazingly drew up alongside me at traffic lights in Moss Side going into Manchester. The lady driver and I exchanged a brief but knowing glance, but the effect on the two nearby bus stops, of seeing such 'twinned' perfection, was obvious. People stopped what they were saying / doing just to gawp at the sight ...
Who said TV car ads don't work......? :)

Of course, I could go on about the several Z4 and Boxter drivers, whom I have encountered recently (with their facial expressions varying between any of the following....:(........) but I digress..............:D

I'd love to hear other people's stories.........

Nice story, I hope to pick up my first 8 either Friday or Monday.
Ever since I was interested in the 8 (1 year ago ish) on my way too and from work each day (Maidenhead to Henley on Thames) and the occasional trip to Aylsbury my wife an I keep an eye out for them, and we will see the odd one or two, but no more. Loads of Audi TTs and Minis tho.

Another great reason to get an 8 in the UK, shows your not a sheep :)

the lack of response proves my point even more :)

Baa, Baa...............

Us RX-8 devotees are part of a wild herd, not a flock........:)
On this site we can share our joint interest ( or should I say, obsession?!:D) but out on the UK roads, we certainly stand out as individuals.......
The monotonous front-on look of Beemers is sleep-inducing and their drivers know it......;)

Just saw there is one parked in Henley on Thames most evenings. (red) pick mine up today :) so will be one more on the roads

Speaking about how many 8ths we have met on our trips.
On the 19th of December 2003 we got our Titanium 8 here in the Netherlands, the first one on the Dutch roads.
Since then, also due to very high taxes, not many 8ths have been sold.
I guess on this very moment about 350 cars have been sold.
So seeing one on the roads, even in this very small and crowded country is very rare.
BTW,the first ever seen wild RX8 was in early december in London when did some christmass shopping

Good luck with your cars.

Eric

Hi All

Saw my 10th RX-8 today - Winning Blue, 54 Reg (I think, it was dark!) - at the Oldbury roundabout (near Mecca Bingo) in the West Midlands.

Like you say, seanp, maybe this was one of our fellow members - I'll definitely take you up on your invitation.....:)

Hi Critters (Dave) and seanp.
Awaiting 'activation' before I meet up with you both again...:)
Dave - I'm delighted (but not all surprised ;) ) that you've enjoyed the early days of your RX-8 ownership - as far as I can tell, the feeling never goes away...:)
I think that's why the grinning smiley isn't working at the moment - too many '8' drivers have worn it out in self-expression ....!! :D (see what I mean? )

Happy driving!

Thanks rich, still having fun. Drove to Brighton and back this weekend, was a good laff. Still can't get into the other RX8 forums, I was in for like 10 minutes then it logged me out, and I requested a new PW, but it reset it and I didn't get the email telling me what it is.

I think the admin of the forum posts here, if you read this can you please please PM me and I can provide a 2nd email address that may have more luck.

Hi Dave
Now up to 11 RX-8s seen on UK roads - the last one was Titanium Grey near Smethwick Rolfe St train station seen on the way to work. I was travelling 'incognito' in my Golf MkIII ! :)
I thought it might have been Sean.....
He'll try to get me onto the rx8ownersclub site soon.

Good driving, mate! ;)

Rich
