Accessories; Dealer Sweetners
 

Presumably as the cars SHOULD be here within the next 5 weeks some people have swallowed their bile & ordered accessories to ensure that they arrive before the car does??

If so could people post any deals (free mats, discount etc) so that people can use these as bargaining tools with their dealer / have the option to use a different dealer.

As acc's are priced high there should be potential for savings!!!

Good idea although my dealers made it clear that no deals would be offerred. Hope I am wrong though. Maybe get a discount if one buys a certain value.

My dealer said the same thing (no deals), however one thing to note to all the guys that have pre orderd a low power version - I read a article in car magazine a few months ago that stated there may be deals on the low power version as dealers expect to have free stock sitting around as there was more uptake on th hi power version. I would find out more if you have a low power car on order.

We are supposed to receive an official accessories catalog soon (the one we got last week was a pre-print), along with the official price-list.

As soon as that arrives I am going to go to my dealer to discuss it with them. I will not be buying much unless the prices can be negotiated.

I am at least hoping to get the mats for free!

When I placed my order last week I tried to haggle on the price of the car but knew I would get nowhere. :)

However, my dealer did offer me some sweetners on the deal - free mats and the offer of any accessories I ordered at cost price, which he said would be a reduction of about 10%. Not great but better than nothing I suppose.

Does this mean that nobody has ordered any acc's yet?

The prices are listed on the Mazda website.

Do you think that stock is already in UK or will it have to be ordered. If so how long will delivery take?

My dealer doesn't intend to obtain accessories until late in October. I've expressed an interest in some items though and he's noted them down. I did want the bonnet struts until I read about them bending the metal (if it's true).

Tit Grey accessories
 

The last brochure received containes some great photos but the best one being the tit grey which looks very classy indeed. However did strike me that it would look even better with additional aluminimum accessories including the rotary crest in front, air outlets fins, sport exhaust (if any great size difference to one fitted) and exhaust trim. Also scuff plate.

The only other thing I am thinking about is front and rear tyre deflectors to give the wheels more presence and illuminated gear stick. Also additional but legal tinting. I expect free mats.

Whilst the accessories seem to be expensive when compared the the cost price of the car they are in fact reasonable when comparing them to a) accessories available on other quality cars and b) the very high 'standard' fit package.

I have been doing some research in the process of renewing our family car (needs to be 4x4) and BMW, Volvo and VW all offer options as long as ones arm and easily adding £10,000. That is because the basic car is very basic.

Nice thing about accessories is that nobody actually needs them to enjoy the car.

Ok, I've changed the title of this thread and merged a couple more into it.

We seem to want to talk about accessories quite a bit right now (understandably). This is the thread to do it in !!!!

I ordered my RX-8 with a lot of accessories, but my dealer know nothing about. He told me to wait, the car will arrive before the accessories....

When I started talking about accessories, my dealer advised me to wait until there are a few parts in the country so he could assess their quality.

Also... any update on exactly what the 'sports exhaust' is... expensive cosmetic upgrade or something more?

So do i understand from this that all accessories are not ordered at the same time as the ordering the car?
I want quite a few of them but assumed they would be fitted in the factory?
Also why on the website is sat nav £1500 and on the accessories list it is less than half that??:eek:

The accessories will be fitted by the dealer, although I assume that the first cars will be here a few weeks before any accessories.

They are based in Japan but the threads I read seemed to indicate that the service was prompt. Some of the prices seem to be quite reasonable, although looking at the prices for the Mazdaspeed body kit sixspeed better have deep pockets.

Hi Anthony - I wondered about that (Sat Nav in the accessory price list)... it's actually a dealer-fit traffic avoidance add-on for those who have the factory-fit Sat Nav. At least that's what I found out...

... unless anyone knows better!

Please don't shout me down for this, but I ride my bicycle quite a lot and often need to transport it. Given that the rear seats don't drop down..... does anyone know if a roof rack will be available?

(I promise I'll take it off as soon as I get my bicycle to its required destination)

DannyA - I've never seen a roof rack mentioned on any of the forums but that's not to say it doesnt exist. I think I ddi read somewhere the maximum roof loading was 75kg in which case they've at least thought about a rack.

I intend to get the towbar and attach a bike rack to that - quite expensive but better than getting the roof or boot scratched with a car mounted rack.

The sat-nav listed in the accessories brochure is a trafficmaster navigation system.
Instead of a screen, and controls to input destination etc, you have a single button. This button connects you via the inbuilt GSM to a trafficmaster operator who you tell where you want to go. They calculate the route and upload it to your car. The box has GPS so knows where you are, and talks you htrough your journey. A pretty smart piece of kit.

This is instead of the built in sat-nav.

And I am also interested in a bike carrier. Roof mounted or towbar mounted. I need to be able to carry at least 2 bikes, preferably more.

I've requested a quote from them for a bout £500 worth of bits to see how much shippings costs will be. Some of the parts prices are half what mazda uk want. Plus they stock the starter button :cool:

The Mazdaspeed bodykit comes to about £3k.:eek:

My dealer states that any accessory can get to them, normally within 24 hours. The main European warehouse (I think) is in Belgium. The dealer has not ordered any items because of the is "speedy" delivery, so I'll have to have items fitted after delivery and not at the PDI.

jibobjoe - thanks for the info about TrafficMaster - seems like I only had half the answer!!

And keep us all posted about the quote from Japanparts... the possibility of VAT being added at customs is the only other question mark.

There is firstly a 5% credit card charge (which seems a little excessive).

The shipping costs come to about 40 quid, so not too bad.

Although not mentioned I am sure tha VAT will be payable when the goods arrive.
