1st Drive "Japanese Performance" Magazine

Not my usual purchase, fact is strapping a Turbo to a Toyota Yaris has never really appealed, but I say the RX-8 on the front and they have a "1st Drive" review.

I will try and get this scanned in and posted this afternoon (if anyone can tell me how to post images I would be most grateful)

In synopsis:

Negatives:
"They found the back seats a bit claustrophobic and the rer windows were two small."

They think the rotor emblem has been over done.

Positives:
"The rotary engine is a new high of smoothness and efficiency."

"We spent much of our return trip cruising at 110 to 120mph and it had plenty more to give"

"It also felt very stable thanks to a really rather splendid chassis."

final paragraph:

"In fact, Mazda gatea a very high grade for the RX-8. It irks us to say it, but a brief acquaintance with this car suggests that it is very, very good, indeed. In its touting of it as 'a sports car like no other', Mazda is aggravatingly right"

Very positive indeed.

Something else I just remembered, the ride height looks much lower than the blue one I saw last week.

Will post pics later.

Have just finished reading the article myself.

Very positive review.

One quote:

"Latest Renesis rotary engine revs smoothly to 9000rpm. It's complemented by a slick gearchange and a talented chassis with fine grip, good brakes and decent handling"

Sounds like all the major bases covered :)

Bought it today and read the review.

It seemed like they didnt want it to do well, but they couldnt help but find it to be a very, very good car indeed.

Overall another excellent review :)
