How to Powerslide and drift
 

I would like to know about power-sliding or drifting is it the same thing and does it enable you to go around a corner faster. I ask because a friend of mine was telling me that when you corner if your front wheels a on the edge (100% traction) but your back wheels are not then you should step the back out a bit so all wheels are working as hard as they can.

I have no idea how to do this and does it make you go faster. Obviously drift racing is extremely cool but surely it is not the quickest way to corner on a race track.

I tried to powerslide by cornering quickly then dipping the clutch increasing the revs and release I just got a little screech slight rotation (back stepped out 6") then back to normal cornering.

Any tips to help drive sideways and can it increase your speed around a corner.

The stability control, unless it is disabled, is going to make it impossible to do either.
I would define a powerslide as having the rear widely rotate while you are in the corner. A drift would have you rotating the car before entering the corner. Neither, a powerslide or drift, is the fastest way around anything but the tightest corner. Using a clutch kick to temporarily cause the rear to step out is neither.
With DSC disabled, my car will typically corner with a slight overstear/loose condition when on the track.

ya as ^ said its not the fastest way around a corner, but it is arguably the most fun way to take a corner. but a clutch kick entry is perfectly fine, you just have to be more aggressive, transfer the weight more with a little flick, and keep the rpm's high. enter early, end your drift late, and make sure if your trying to learn how to drift your 8, you are in a wide open place where you arent going to crash...

Thanks guys, I currently have much better tires on the back of my car then on the front so that will make things more difficult. I will try to find a big open space and get some practicing done. Maybe next time its rains I'll go out and have some fun. I will try to be more aggressive and commit to make the car turn. I guess I am too used to correcting a skid automatically

the only thing its good for is blocking :D but its fun!

It's also a great way to spend a few hundred dollars on new tires. :)

i thought drifting was when you used your handbrake to turn? i.e thats how you start a drift.
