Trade Intakes???
Is anybody up for trading intakes? I have the K&N Typhoon V.2 intake, installed less than a year ago. Wouldn't mind changing things up by swapping to an AEM or MS CAI.
I enjoy this intake but I wouldn't mind trying something else out. It's a fairly loud intake, slightly less efficient than the MS and AEM CAI because it sucks in a lot of hot air from the engine bay, especially when idling. It is quite loud compared to the other 2 from what I hear. Let me know if anyone is interested, pic of the intake in my sig. I'm in the Whitby area. |
I might be interested because I am afraid to use my AEM intake in the winter once it hits.

Be afraid be very afraid :lol2:

But cant I just remove some of the piping off the AEM intake and put the filter in my engine bay for the winter and make it a short ram?
|
I dont think there is enough room for that filter in the engine bay
|
The piping in the engine bay is 1/2" bigger than the S-piping going to the filter so you would have to get another piece of piping to fit the filter there. I'd also get a smaller hi-flow filter since the AEM/MS filter is quite large.

MS CAI + winter....... :fruit:
|
My MS CAI works beautifully in the winter!!!! mind you my car stays in the garage under a car cover from November to April :) :fruit:
|
Does the filter freeze? I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a truck before the winter. I was going to just takeover an expiring lease on some pimping ride like an Escalade or Range Rover, but I don't know if I want to throw away 900 a month.

ouch!!!! get a beater!!!! 2002 focus zx5 is my winter ride :)

My 8 is to be stored away in the winter time so I'm not too worried about it. Let me know.... ________ MICHIGAN DISPENSARY |
I think Im going to keep just going to remove some of the piping and add a smaller filter and keep in the engine bay for the winter
|
ummm.... not sure how well that will work... but just do yourself a favour and don't buy some shitty random filter..last thing you want is crap flying around in there...

I didn't survive... hence I took it off and it's stored in a box now. I am not selling guys sorry.. I'm waiting for the day when I can afford a beater so I could drive the 8 as a summer car only and put the MS CAI back on.
If you want to know more about MS CAI in the winter, search the posts I started. I have extensive knowledge and information on its usage in BRUTAL Toronto winters. |
^+1
Anyone that runs the AEM or MS CAI in the winter and gets stuck/fuked because of it has had their fair warning and I won't be running out to save anyone if that is the reason. Not being mean, but come on there has been fair warning to those peeps that want to run it in the winter. Footman and I didn't have the warnings we are sending out. Wish you luck with it to those that want to run it. |
