IN terms of buying used or new tires. What should i do ? new or used ? I wanna buy the g35 rims that i found but theyre too far. But i did find another set of the same rims and same tires which the ad stated they have 98% thread left. These ones are 1100 with rims. Thought?

Just visit the self car wash bays more often in the winter. For $2, you get several minutes of hot water you can blast the undercarriage.

If you clean your 8 every week during winter and have covered garage, it should be fine. (Footman cars is cleanest among us and he drove his car all year....mine is not that far behind in terms of paint quality after 2 years)

The car is a depreciating assets anyway, may as well use it.

Drifting the 8 in winter is hella fun.

Only bad thing: Can't lower your car too much unless you're baller like Footman: eibach springs + bilstein shocks + 18" performance winter rims FTMFW!

I live in downtown and I have to pick my route wisely during winter even with my stock suspension and 17" steel wheel set up. However, I never got stuck once in the 2 winters I've been through... Peace!

The idea of my car suffering through a salt and slush bath does not appeal to me. My winter beater cost $1200. Plus I love the money I save on gas and insurance.

Should I buy used or new ? I really want those tires in 18 ? Should I buy the ones. I saw ? 225/45/18 blizzaks with g35 rims (which are noiceeee ) For 1100. What do you guys think ?! He said there's 98 percent thread left

Footman 08-23-2010 12:54 PM

Look at the tire manufacture date as well. Written as the last 4 digits on the DOT code marked on the sidewall of the tire. Ask him to give you that info. I think the format is wwyy, where ww = week of manufacture, and yy = year

Rotary-RX8 08-23-2010 01:07 PM

Yea. Ill do that. But what do you guys think about the price ? I mean they are coming with g35 rims that someone on this forum powdercoated purple before (forgot the user).

Rotary-RX8 08-24-2010 12:40 AM

You know what. I think ill go with the g35 rims i saw. Theyre freaking nice and the tires a almost brand new. I figured a brand new set of blizzaks + steelies is gonna run me liek 1100. So why not get g35 rims (SEXY as hell) and tires which are slightly less than brand new for the same price. Heres the ad what do you guys think ?

I know you guys said narrower the better. His are 225 fornts and 245 rears i believe. Will there be much of a difference between 224 ans 225 at the rear in terms of performance ?

TheWulf 08-24-2010 09:51 AM

The wider the tires, the less you will dig through the snow. 245 rears will be terrible.

I always buy new winter tires as winters are not like summers. You need much more tread to be able to grip in the winter. Also, most tires suck, so I am extremely picky on my tires, it's worth the extra hundred or two to get a great tire.

Rotary-RX8 08-24-2010 10:09 AM

Yea thats what i was thinking. 245 would be terrible in the snow. I guess ill buy brand new ones then. Thanks !! Probably gonna buy new tires and new 18 inch steelies. If i cant find steelies that size ill find the g35 rims ;)
