Who has received VIN #'s in Canada

Is there anyone who has received their VIN from the dealer in Canada? I went to mine on Thursday and he had nothing for me!"UNBELIEVEABLE!! I am getting "pissed off"

Does anyone have any info on the arrival of ships with our cars on them?

My VIN came in on Thursday, VIN JM1FE173240101998. Its a Lightning Yellow GT with moonroof and Nav package. It is part of the first shipment of 4 arriving here.

The latest info from dealer says the car is at sea, and that their information is usually a couple of weeks old. The dealer is trying their best, but it appears we get more info here than from Mazda Canada in terms of when the cars arrive at port.

Getting excited now that the VIN came in. Its just that much closer till it comes in and the VIN makes it more real.

And I've had my VIN since monday.
JM1FE173X40100839, should be a silver 6 speed GT, with no moonroof or nav.

According to the dealer, it was in port as of tuesday, and was still there friday.

I don't know about anyone else but my dealer is able to run a report that shows the status of the car, and he's currently doing it three times weekly, monday, wednesday and friday.

Jasper,

Which port are you refering to? One of the other posts states that "All RX-8's for canada will be coming through the Fraser Wharves docks...first boat is due in June 17th... "

I'm assuming this is the port your dealer is talking about? If so, cars should be coming this way pretty soon...

Yep, that's the port.

The dealer thought the listing should change to "on rail" by friday or monday.

Obviously it didn't make it by friday...

Anyone got any idea how long it takes a car on a train to get from Vancouver to Halifax?

Uh, yeah - that's why there are three other current threads here in the Canada forum with that information being discussed.

If you'd had a look at those first you'd already know the answer!

Gordon

Jasper,

I talked to someone here at work today. He said he shipped a car from the west coast using a company called Hansen's Forwarding, (http://www.lhf.com) and that they move most of the new cars across the country. He was able to track the exact location of his car right on the internet. So off I go all excited to the web site. I went right to the tracking screnn which asks for the last 8 numbers of the VIN. I was really getting excited until the querry came back as not found.

I called Hansen's who said that because it is a dealer owned car, I have to go through the dealer to get that information. I called Mazda Canada getting the same usual response back from them, that is to call the dealer.

You seem to have a pretty good dealer. Is there a way of hime getting the info we need. There are a couple of members on the US threads that work at Mazda dealers and get information for members. Maybe your dealer can get in the loop for us...

I just got off the phone with the dealer and as of today the cars (at least mine) are still in port.

I don't have the patience for this kind of thing. I was fine when it was all vague and I didn't even know when/if it was being built, but now that I know it's just sitting there in B.C., it's gonna drive me crazy.

Depends, you willing to ship them across the country quicker than Mazda?

And how's your pricing?

How about financing?

:D

Talked with my dealer this morning. He says the car is still in port. Some of the treads in the RX-8 Discussion group speak of Japanese inspectors going over each car and some additional testing going on before they release them as a group. Of course, my dealer does not have any additional information. He says it will take ten days to get to Toronto dealerships once they leave port.

Does anyone else know if Mazda is holding back our cars in port?

Just got off the phone with my dealer.

He was talking to someone at Mazda Canada, and the cars are supposed to be moving out shortly, if not today.
His understanding was that they had been held up for some little thing and that now whatever it was had been taken care of.

So hopefully before the end of the week they'll be showing as on rail.

That's really good news Jasper. Sure wish our dealer was as well informed as yours. Does your dealer know how long before you get yours?

We are going out to your end of the country this coming Friday for a week's holiday. Was really hoping to go out there in the RX-8. Would have been nice snapping some pics oif the RX-8 with Cabot's Trail as a backdrop. Oh well...

No, he still had no idea on an arrival date.

I'm pretty sure they won't be in this week, but you never know, maybe by the time you get back.

If they do, and you see a Silver GT on your way back from Cape Breton, give me a wave. :D
