VanCityRx8.com Website and Club Launched

Hello Everyone,

I have registered a domain and have designed an initial splash page for the VanCityRX8.com.

If you click on the link above, you will be sent to my personal website domain, but you will see the webpage that I will place on the domain. The registration form works, so if interested in signing up with the VanCityRX8 club fill it out.

I apologize for any that may find this to be to forthright, but I felt as though we may be talking about this for awhile to come and figured I may as well just go ahead and start the movement ASAP and sort out the ruffled feathers later :D

I have also designed a VanCity RX8 logo as well and hope everyone likes it as much as I do.

.

Best regards,
Nathan.

A quick thought, you might want to get out and know those who go to meets, organize meets so far, and who are interested instead of going for the gusto from the start.

Good idea though, setting up the page already, so kudos on that, I have no knowledge of webpages etc, I am just trying to get interest and get a club up and going.

We all know its gonna take a bit to do, its not an overnight thing.

Show up for our drive, get to know the peeps that are already starting things, and work with instead of ruffling feathers, since the amount of time and effort put in by some of us already has been quite a bit of our personal effort and time, hurts to see someone with 4 posts trying to say that they are starting it when others have been working at it and slowly building a basis for one.

If you wanna meet up before then and we can all talk about ideas, I am sure myself, Dan, Mike, Usoff and others would be up for it, but the best idea is to vget to know people first before jumping in... makes for a more friendly environment.

Dont take this as a flame, but more as constructive critisism from someone who has been working at this for the last four months, gaining a basis of people, and putting a lot of personal time into it. We also have some design ideas for a logo, but we felt once I get them drawn up nicely, we can get people to help decide what they want for our club. Hopefully you will work with us on this though, this way the 8 community wil continue in good harmony and friendship... If not, I will spam mail you with pics of Rohit's modeling career :P

I agree, I just want everybody who is serious about doing this to get in on it, instead of people who only come out once in a blue moon because they feel like it...

Well i still wish this to be a all ROTARY club....

us 8s are only a small minority.... an all rotary club would mean so much more...

Well i did drop by Signature Mazda the other day and said Hi to my source and briefly told him about our thoughts of organizing an all rotary club and he told me " Vince you know im your guy of course we can work something out "

So there you go i did my part, now we just really need a laid out plan etc...

Inconsequential,

By all means start the all rotary club. I just don't want to wait another 4 months before we decide to have an all 8's only. I realize that I only have 4 posts, but then again I have only had my RX8 for 6 weeks and well, only became interested in a club couple weeks ago.

Incidently, I didn't want to wait until I have 100+ posts talking about something and not doing anything about it in the meantime. So that being said, I hope that everyone is cool with the new RX8 club but if you want to continue with the all rotary by all means, I will join that as well when it has started

Dan, Mike, Usoff, and yourself are welcome to be apart of the new group in any way possible, but in all honestly, there is a large community of owners out there that aren't aware of any such clubs that we need to bring in. The RX8's are brand new cars and the owner base is growing steadily and I want to be able to grow with that community and not have the community grow without a club formed or still in the process of being formed.

I hope that we can work together to continue the formation of the new club. The last thing I want to have created is two rival RX8 clubs.

NAte, reread my post and think on a few points...
1, Get out and meet up with some of the people to get a feel on them, not just from posts on a forum.
2, There isnt a huge base of 8's in the Van area, and to disinclude 7's would be leaving a large group which have good info, and good people who can contribute more than you may realize.
3, Have you talked to anyone about how to go about this? Have you formed a club before? Probably same answer I have about forming a club before, no, but, quite a few of the people here have experience with it in the past, as well the 7 owners have experience in this matter too, talk to them and gain some info, see what is workable short term and long term.
4, simple thought, bring your ideas out when we go for our meet/drive on the 27th, share with the peeps there, and see what we have to offer in person, rather than assuming from the forum, makes sense to do.

Just my two bits... We need to work together. Inconsequential has been working hard to get this new group going. There have been a few meetings already, including plans for a road trip later this month. I've been to a couple of meets, have you?

Any club needs energetic members and it sounds like you are one, so let's work together...

I have not yet been to any meets as there have been none since I purchased my RX8.

Personally, I respect that you guys have put some thought into the formation of this club over the last 4 months on this forum. But with 4 months of planning and still no ball moving that really doesn’t add up to me.

I am not one for politics so please understand that as much as I don't want to step on anyone’s toes, there definitely needs to be forward movement that adds up to something and ensure that as little time as possible is wasted.

That being said, I am looking forward to the June 27th meetup and hope that we can make some progress on putting this club together.

Yes the ball is moving, but not all that is talked about between us that are working on this are posted, just because its also good to make sure we have things finalized rather than speculative, i pmd ya, so, feel free to give me a shout so it all works, rather than none of us getting it to work.

this is becoming to stupid this is a club... how can u possibly make a club in a car you own and you dont even know the members.. like wow i got my 8 8 weeks ago ive been to 3 meets one of them was a major one... and since youve owned your 8 we have had a meet.... just some fyi..... and like you shoulda read our plans before making a club... this isnt like making waffles where you get your ingredients together and just make them.. this involves cooperation from the members of the club... thats like me a making a club right now with a website and telling everyone to join without even knowing what the deal was before i had said i made a club.. im on with omid... AND btw van city is misleading i live in vancouver :P but come on richmond is the GVRD ( im just bothering you) anyways take some thought before telling us we did not get the ball rolling i somewhat helped drew organize the may meet by coming out early and making the guest list but no one thanked me :D

Whoa easy Hitmann!

Let's not jump the gun here and make anyone unwelcomed. Firstly, nshb welcome to the boards (and congrats on being a new RX-8 owner).

We're all here for one reason, to share the enthusium on this awesome car. Let's not lose sight of that.

It's good that you bring some faster-paced qualities to the table. We'll need that to keep the ball rolling. But while still, it may be premature to setup a name, logo and website before getting any kind of consensus from other 8 owners out there.

Let's all just commit to June 27th, get together, get to know each other better first. Honestly, the last meet was rather short, and I don't think I've even gotten everyone's name down yet.

A club is only as good as it's members, so let's just focus on getting the group together first. That way we can get everyone's input in, and get some decisions finalized.

Hitmann, not to sound condescending, but there is no club yet, and there are no members. I recognize that there are several registrants of the forum that are from Vancouver, but there is no club formed yet.

As it stands, Omid and I are going to be getting together to put some thoughts towards unifying our approach and working together to make this happen.

I don’t appreciate being run down by the fact that there were plans archived in the depths of these threads and I haven’t read them. I looked, but there was nothing solidified.

Curiously enough, you mention something regarding not being in VanCity? Why then does your avatar depict this?

But seriously, this has turned into of an epic ordeal. This is about our passion for the RX8 and our interest in having a pack of RX8’s roaming the streets in full force, not about bickering over the minor details such as someone launching a website for Vancouver that is exclusively for RX8’s. I am not here to make the one and only club – there are plenty of owners out there capable of joining any number of groups.

And yes Rohit, it is appreciated that you helped get the last one going, then again, I wasnt thanked, but I know everyone appreciated the gathering as much as I appreciated everyone coming out.

So Nate, you are up for meeting up tomorrow night by the sounds of it, good, if ya got a cell to be reached at, pm me, or call, gotta love caller id, hehe, and we can make sure we get the right place, Omid thinks there is a Starbucks there, but he isnt certain, hehe.

Ahh I was gonna say, I don't recall a starbucks being on that corner... there's one further up by Heather and 41st or down by Arbutus and 41st.

Thanks Incon and Hitmann for organizing the last meet. I for one am very appreciative of your efforts as are everyone else I'm sure.

Exclamation VanCityRX8.com domain is now live!

Just to let everyone know, the VanCityRX8.com domain is now active and there are 9 members already registered.

After our meeting it looks as though a resulting "Club" will be formed that is the Rotary Experiment Club that will be the meet and greet club.

I plan to keep the VanCityRX8.com website to be used for exclusive RX8 info on the 8's for all the Vancouver, BC residents. As my full time job is making websites, I plan to make it a site worth frequenting.

Click the logo to check out the registration page which will be replaced with a full site within the next little bit.
