Tire Pressure Monitor System this is not working in Canada

This is what my dealer told me is that true.

Because I want to install after market wheel.

Rx-8's sold in Canada do not have TPMS.

rotten42 03-29-2006 12:31 PM

Canada = Light washers
US = TPMS

as usual, the salesperson at the dealer knows squat!

Canadian 8's have TPMS.....It's a more modern version. It's called "look out the door and see if the tire is flat!"

:lol:

Imagine that - the sales people at a dealership not knowing their product. In Canada? Impossible.

Sarcasm aside, I figure it's because since it gets super-duper cold and then really really hot up here that the TPMS would get confused by the weather, complain, and then drive people nuts.

Some of those Americans that have weather like us hate their TPMS ... and end up covering up the TPMS light in the winter because it goes off like crazy.

So does other companies (like INFINITI) who does offer TPMS in Canada use a different system then? I dont miss TPMS but I do see the benefits in terms of safety in a vehicle like this. Maybe Mazda Canada just cheaped out....

I'd take the light washers over the TPMS anyday...no if I can only figure out a way to make them shoot sideways so I can get the squeegy guy next time he comes near my car.

Actually, the TPMS doesn't get confused. You really are supposed to add air when it gets cold, and let out air when it gets hot. The TPMS wouldn't be confused, it would be correct in reminding people who don't bother adjusting their tire pressures for large ambient temperature changes!
