Southwood Rd. #13 is clear to go!
A few months ago, on company business I was on it and the road condition was horrible. It was all pitted, rutted, potholed everywhere.
I drove through it again on Tuesday and am pleased to report that they have repaved the entire road from end to end! It's now a 40km drive of twisties/elevations that's quite smooth, with the occasional small bumps and ruts here and there. Only a few corners have some sand on it. I would also advise not to get out of your car or open the windows while you drive. It's crazy mosquitoes there, they'll eat you alive. They ate me as I had to get out of my vehicle for work. Thankfully I was only out for 30 minutes. |
One of my favorite roads, glad to hear it.

I found that road in 2004 when I was coming back from a golf game near Bala. I was in an Mazda 6 V6GT and did in the brakes lol. I went back in a RX8 a year later, then a few times with a Mazdaspeed 6. Its a ride and half with the Speed, I still managed to overheat the brakes though. The 8 was fun, but with the boost to get out of the low speed corners, the Speed 6 was wicked fun. I knew it was a good road when I saw guy on a sport bike putting on his racing leathers to ride it! I dont talk about it much to people, because its mainly vacant and the more people who know, the OPP will show up sooner than later! It would be easy to get nailed for 50 over on that road!

I recommend that its time we do a cruise on Southwood Rd. this year. We've done Forks, and we've done Hockley 2 years ago.
What do you all think? |
I'm in...its a bit far but looks like its all worth it... I want to get externally mounted camera so we could tape the ride on those roads...lolz
