Shipping cars on rail

i'm moving to Toronto (from Vancouver) for a new job but didn't want to punish my car with the drive there.

anyone ever ship their car via CN/ SeaRail? or any other company? just looking for some experiences. they're all pretty much priced the same.

Searail moved our two cars (in the opposite direction). They got it about 50% right...

One car got off the train just fine. The other car was in front of another car that was not loaded properly, and which probably slipped off of its chocks around 10 clicks after the train left. As such, the rear bumper was WORN THROUGH by the letters of the licence plate (and the plate itself) of the car behind it. I could read the letters in the bumper!

They were quick enough with the claim, and were generally quite pleasant. Can't say much about the moving company, however.

Dude you're thinking about shipping your car instead of takeing a cruze accross the country??

I just finished a drive to San Diego and back via Las Vegas and I'm already thinking about my next trip.

^^My thoughts exactly. What an opportunity you have.
I drove from Ottawa to Surrey in four days, solo. Stayed for 4 and drove back in 4. Did the trip in my miata. It was awesome.

The drive is easy, but long. The Prairies are nice, but a little... redundant. I mean, there's only so much you can say about seeing another field. Ontario across the northern stretch of the Great Lakes is SLOW at this time of year. A nice drive, but a long drive.

You won't kill the car doing this sort of cruise. It's actually probably relatively healthy for it!

I shipped my SUV from TO to Vancouver in February; used L. Hansen Fowarding (www.lhf.com) which was recommended by a friend who used them when he wholesaled exotic cars and was also recommended by my movers. Had no problems with them and can track your shippment from their website.
