Defintely will be driving mine ..... 16" steel rims (if they'll fit) and winter tires and I'm good to go

16" or 17" alloy wheels and winter tires, zoom all winter! There's a few threads about this here and in the Tires and Wheels forum - lots of discussion already.

Regards,
Gordon

I'm definitely driving mine in the winter. I will probably go for 17 or 18 inch rims.

I drive my current BMW540 in the winter, and I find a real change in handling going from the 45 series summer tires to 55 series winter tires. I would not go to 65 series tires (which is what you would do with 16" rims on the RX8).

I just don't want poor handling 5 months of the year. There are snowy days in the winter, but also many clear days...

Did I mention my wife will use it in the winter to. ....

No problem... I'll use it all year long. With DSC, winter tires and my driving experience (used to be a rally driver on RWD cars:p ) I should be ok...

But I guess my "maturity" will slow me down a bit and prevent some disasters:eek:

Should have mine this week... so I'll have 3 full months before putting the winter tires and slowing down ;)

I'm not so concerned with my driving in the winter as I am with other people, who don't know how to drive in the winter. I'm still debating on what to do.

I will drive it in the winter, although since the car is an automatic it doesn't come with DSC or LSD, which is irritating.

Actually the GT version of the automatic comes with DSC and LSD. Much needed in our colder climate...

No other way for me!

No way am I winter driving mine.
I winter-drove my SiR and I hated it.. always dirty and coated with salt... ended up freezing my ass off washing the car almost every day. I can't stand a dirty car.
With the cost of full insurance for those months and getting winter tires and wheels that will fit over the brakes.. that alone will finance a winter beater.

Add in the amount of winter damage my car took last year from potholes (front shock mount, 2 sway-bar endlinks) that's it's just not worth it.

Never mind the near misses with other idiots who can't drive almost hitting my car.
