The same way that a house with large windows feels more spacious than a house with no windows.

What i mean is that if you fit in either car, when you're out driving and open the sunroof and light and air is coming in, you'll feel less cramp.

Night highway drive in the summer through the mountains ... stop and put the seat back to rest ... look up and see the stars or your roof. I pick the stars.

WHy is there even a thread on this? This is the most retarded question ever. That's like going to McDonalds and then coming back to ask us "should I eat the cheeseburger or the hamburger?"

And then 30 people respond with "the cheeseburger has a slice of cheese in it. Essentially a hamburger with a slice of cheese"...

And then further analysis leads to responses like, "well if you have heart problems, and you want to watch your health, then maybe you should stay away from the cheeseburger and eat the hamburger instead"

And then some others are like "well depending on your hunger level, the cheeseburger will give you more satisfaction than the hamburger cause it's tastier".


Come on guy... Pick your own damn car.. talk to a salesman for features and differences.

SO,

the GS must stand for Grand Sport
and GT must stand for Grand Touring

Am I right or Am I wrong.

P.S. If that is true. Then I think I'd be much happier with a 6spd manual GS instead of the GT or an 09 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with 6spd manual.

Quick question grifter why would you ask people on a forum which options to get on a car that you yourself are going to buy? Don't you think you are smart enough to look at the options and see which ones fit your needs? I don't understand the point of asking someone for there input on options when you are going to be using them not that person. Some people hate leather others love the luxury. Some people love the Moon roof some people think it is a waste. Can't you come up to your own conclusions on the options?

RX-8 or Challenger SRT8? With the exception of RWD and a manual transmission, those cars are completely different from one another with completely different attributes.

What the heck are you looking for in a car if you are comparing those two?

Redshift, The challenger SRT8 has an awesome rumble from it's V8 that is intoxicating not to mention I could possible fit in it better than the 8. But on the other hand I love the 9000rpm redline of the 8 and the fact that the 8 would be easier to park. But if I was to win the lottery I'd probably buy both cars.


HiTMaNN, When I see mega long options lists I have a tendency of becoming overwhelmed and confused. That's why I asked questions to see what others have chosen to help me narrow down my choices.

Not much difference. Same performance. It's just about preference. Do you like Leather, sunrook, and DSC ?


My GF has a GT. She likes everything but the DSC. She always turns it off...even in the snow.

I have the GS. I wouldn't trade it for a GT because I hate leather and sunroofs. I wouldn't mind the HID's though.

DSC is by far the best feature on this car. Yes you can turn it off in a snow storm and have some fun, but when you do lose it on dry tarmac or wet road at high speed (ie. 100km/h+), you will be thanking yourself for getting a GT and leaving the DSC on.

The DSC on the 8 is very non-intrusive unlike many other cars.... BMWs come to mind. It comes on only at near extreme situations to save one's bacon.

Some people can't live without the option, others can't live with it.

As Pete mentioned, it's a personal preference.

For the record, I'm with Pete. I can't stand all these electronic nannies.

I come from a 97 Civic with none of these electronics. it has a mechanical throttle. That car was very very responsive on the throttle. Plus, I handled FWD through snow without all that traction control stuff too. I really think that DSC stuff is really for a lot of drivers who aren't that skilled in driving and want some safety.

For me, I frequently turn off DSC.

As above, I find the DSC on the 8 only intervenes when you are doing something stupid.
I've done lapping days on R-compound tires without bothering to turn of the DSC. If you are smooth, you don't need to take it off.

When I first got the 8 ... also my first RWD in many years ... DSC was on so much it's not funny (ie. in winter). But now it's rarely on. I must be doin something right.

I'm starting to wonder if it was purposely setup to be non-intrusive or if it just sucks. My dad's 3-series is so quick and smooth with the DSC that you can't even fel any initial slippage.

I have to say, for the average driver who doesn't even know they have a RWD car, BMW DSC ftw. Our DSC could still scare the crap out of someone (and it's noisy).

See, that might be the difference. I was "lapping" not racing.
I had to drive the car home from the track, so I was limiting my self to about 8/10th (maybe 9/10ths once in a while) and trying not to abuse the car too much.

Check the forums; there are tons of posts of people talking about how traction control saved them even in the rain!

I’m not trying to rub anyone the wrong way, but I think that the only people who are gonna tell you to save that $3,200 and get the GS model are guys who either only drive there cars in the summer or people who’ve made the mistake of buying a GS.

So you are saying that you can't drive this car in the winter if you own a GS? I disagree with you. This is my 4th winter with the GS (driving it everyday not 4th winter in storage) and there hasn't been a day that I wasn't able to drive my car (I live in Mississauga, and we have had lots of snow past couple of weeks, and I remember driving one night on a Super Bowl Sunday home in a foot of snow, for those that remember 2 years ago the bad storm we had that day.

As for resale, I personally never bought the car for a better resale value, like you stated, I enjoyed every day of driving my car without those options, which I really don't care about, and enjoy it without the traction like my good buddy Dan (are you still in England?) Why pay extra for something I'll keep off all the time anyways. To each there own.

It is at the end of the day your own preferrence and budget... regardless GS or GT it's still a rotary, you are buying the car to enjoy the hi-rev motor and the fantastic gas mileage!!! lol
