Refund on Tax on items purchased in Canada
I have searched and found that the rebate program was cancelled in 2007. The lady at the airlines told me that there was a form on the internet but dummy me didn't get specifics and figured I google it and find it right away.
I can't seem to find anything. Is there a Tax rebate for items bought in Canada while on vacation? Thanks! |
Here's the info: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/bsnss/tp.../fctp-eng.html
1.2 Will non-resident consumers who purchase goods in Canada and remove them from the country still be able to get a VRP rebate for the GST/HST they paid on the goods if the tax became payable after March 31, 2007? No. As of April 1, 2007, non-resident consumers who purchase goods in Canada and remove them from the country cannot receive a VRP rebate for the GST/HST they paid on goods if the tax became payable after March 31, 2007. However, there will still be no GST/HST charged when goods are shipped directly by a Canadian business to a non-resident consumer’s residence. |
That's what I thought, Just thought maybe I was missing something or that there was some new rebate program. Stupid airlines employee should STFU. Damn 13% tax?
