Quick Question...

Does anything under 15KM on a speeding ticket go to the insurance company ?

If so, do they do anything ?

Any ticket you get will go on your driving record and IF your insurance company pulls your abstract it will show. It is a common misconception that if you dont get point your insurance company wont know. From what I understand insurance companies pull abstracts for insured drivers at random or if there is an incident that involves them. So you may have a ticket and not get a premium increase, but to answer your question ANY violation that goes on your record is accessible by your insurance company!

This is my understanding as well. Also you should know that insurance companies will allow 1 or 2 tickets of grace (or so they used to) before hiking your rates by 15% for each additional ticket. If it is under the 15KM range. I would go to court and fight him on it in case he doesn't show (been there, done that dozens of times back in the 80's). If he shows, let him prove his case. Just say that you are very cautious but was certain you weren't going that fast, blah blah blah. If he wins, you are no worse off.

OK. Here's one for y'all.

What if you live in AB and got a speeding ticket in KENORA by the Nazi cops in northern Ontario? Does that carry any points into Alberta or is it just like a photo radar?

If this is for you, Pete, yea, try to fight it in court. Tell them you are a really really skilled driver and show them your two morning 170km/h run videos to show you can shift, record, and drive all at the same time :D :D :D

As it was mentioned earlier, the insurance company can find out about it just as easily as any other ticket

Will they do something about it? .. Depends on who your with, but more often than not.... they'll leave it alone. Unless of course its part of a trend that insuracne companies are noticing about you.

Star Newspaper

I read in the Wheels Section of the Star (this past Saturday) that charges (ie. tickets) DO NOT go on your driver abstract or driver record. Only convictions do.

FWIW.

well, if you pay the ticket, I would think you have been convicted.

Fight every ticket you get. Ususally the crown is too busy with all their caes that they will let you plea bargin it down. In many cases you get make it so you pay the fine but have no points...
