psi

Hello everyone!

Quick question, what psi should i have my tires at... i had them at 21 but the book recommends 32? seems like a harder drive now... going to do a long drive from Yellowknife to California in a few weeks , recommendations?
cheers, Petra

21 is definitely too low...you're gonna blow a tire if you keep running at that pressure, especially on a long drive like you've mentioned. It's best to go with the recommended pressure stated on the driver's side door jam which is 32 (for stock tires, but generally you can go with this for most tires, i run 32 psi on 245's) My guess is your tires may have uneven wear as well, so you might want to go to a tire shop to check for any cracking that may have occured before you leave, you're lucky!

I'd almost want to drive up there in the late summer or early fall for a three car rotary party.

Keep in mind that if you have the tires inflated too low that the turn in response will suffer, the tires will wear faster and the car will generally not handle well.

I have mine at 36psi. IMO that's 34-36psi is optimal pressure for street tires. Howard Coleman a former SCCA racer with a lot of knowledge and experience under his belt told me for a 2nd Gen RX-7 that 35psi was typically the desired pressure.

Please do! I'd be into that... We even have a car show here every summer!
