Performance Package Question *update w/pics*

I just got my Performance Package installed and I got a trunk full of extra parts, did anyone else get these parts and what should I do with them? (and if anyone could explain to me what they are)

Also the dealer insisted on keeping the factory rims. Is this standard?

Sounds like you got the "Jarman Treatment"

ebay?
come to think of it.. i have the OEM scuff plates with me...

Well after talking to a different sales manager he agreed to give me the rims :)

Purchased at Sundance, surprising Jarman has a bad reputation. They were the only dealership that really seemed to be quite honest with me.

Heres a pic of the engine, is this standard for the install?

Also can anyone identify what this is?

These are the remaining parts that were in my trunk: (If anyone can identify please do)

The big box and the fabric mesh tube is your stock intake. The tray that looks like a maze is the under tray for your airbox. The two struts I have no idea!!! I have never seen them under the hood before.

cloud7 Jun 14, 2007 11:33 AM

they probably have to replace the struts from the trunk which more heavy duty ones for the added weight of the spoiler.

The part you couldn't identify is the front license plate bracket.

PatInTheHat Jun 14, 2007 05:06 PM

Mort: Thanks very much!

When I got mine I found the same parts in my trunk. The dealer told me to hold on to them and when I return the car at end of lease I return these parts to them.

I asked about the original rims they said they do not return those. Also they told me that the engine cover did not fit due to the cold air exhaust - when I came home I tired it on and fit nicely - no rattle noise.

When I got my Performance Package installed I was given everything no problem. It was fun moving the 4 rims in the back seats....

If I bought the car with the factory rims and the MS Rims were an "add on" I think they should be yours.
My dealer let me keep mine.

spigot52 Jun 15, 2007 09:10 AM

You might want to keep the white box......thats your new MS filter cleaning kit. I suspect the small box is a socket for your lugnuts....The front license bracket may come in handy too.
If you ever decide to switch to a RB Revi intake you may need the lower airbox tray and the engine cover.

abs016 Jun 15, 2007 10:39 AM

so.. do u like the speed cai?

spigot52 Jun 15, 2007 12:54 PM

I've had mine for a month or so......the jury is still out......love the way it looks, but the revi was sooo quiet

PatInTheHat Jun 15, 2007 05:30 PM

I only test drove an 8 without cai but my girl friend noticed immediatly that my 8 with cai was a fair bit louder. Nothing major though.

I have one question regarding the Mazdaspeed rims that come with the Performance Package... does anyone know what much they weigh each without tire???

salveya Jun 25, 2007 11:27 PM

I can't decide if I want to get the MS rims put on or just keep the stock ones. The stock ones are pretty...

PatInTheHat Jun 26, 2007 10:27 AM

salveya: I originally liked the stock rims more also but the package rims grow on you fast. I'm going to stick winter tires on the stock rims so i'll get to see both sets yearly :)

I cant quite remember...they were quite heavy....around 25lbs I think

salveya Jun 26, 2007 01:55 PM

PatInTheHat: I guess I'll throw them on and use the stocks for winter... saves me having to get winter rims and the MS rims are very sharp. How does it sound with the MS CAI on it?
