New Guy - Break-in Q?

I just wanted to drop a line and say Hello. I have been lurking these forums for a little bit and just now joined.

I picked up an 05 VR Rx-8 6spd on Friday afternoon. I am loving it already, I have put on 500KM since then. Its a big upgrade from my modded SR20DE Nissan Sentra

I was wondering what kind of Break-in procedures if anything you guys used. The dealer told me just go easy for one tank of gas but that seems way too little to me.

What is proper??

Thanks,
JUERGEN

Spd Frk ... good to hear that you're enjoying the 8. In the future do a quick search. There's quite a few posts on engine breaking. I think that there was a fellow that asked the same question here in our Canada section a few weeks ago. Anyways, here's the link

Look at my post for a number of different methods. In my opinion, the Racing Beat procedure is VERY conservative. I personally followed the Japanese Rotary Mechanic procedure. Just remember that Mazda says that there is no specific procedure (just don't hold the rpm constant for the first bit) ... so I guess it depends on how anal you are. :)
