Plugs - $80 @ BHR
OEM Coils - $160 @ Finishline Performance
Wires - $60 @ BHR

Diagnostics shouldn't cost you a penny since the results are covered under warranty. You don't even need to change plugs/wires/coils if you don't want to, but I'd change the plugs at least.

I thought so , just seems a little starnge , no cel ever , or loss of power..... just a hard start , unless im just used to it running like that. They did however tell me i needed oil recepits and i told them i had 4 in the glove conpartment , which is all i have cuz ive only owned the car for 1 year and 10,000 km. They said that was fine. is that true.

What year is your car? Was it brand new?
Even so, most of the hard start series I's only needed the new starter that spun faster.
But as far as a new engine, tell them to stuff it as far charging you that much.
Diagnostics and engine shouldn't cost you a thing.

Thumbs down

Yes i just recently bought footmans intake ....... I just picked the car up like 15 min ago , i was told a new enigine has been ordered and it will be a few weeks. It`s an 04 , ive only owned it for about a year and out 10 000km on it. He still said it would be 1200 or more for wires coils and plugs and fluids.... which im sure i can find a vendor on here with a better deal.

1200 for wires coils plugs and fluids that has to be a record. you should be able to do coils plugs wires for under 300 us.

i just got my car back with a new motor under warrenty and it cost me 350 for a new starter and that was it. 1200 is way too much if anything buy the parts some where else the labour should be free under warrenty.

Which "stealership" are you going to?
You aren't going to the one in Mississauga that took that lady for a ride for a new mazda6 a few months back?

Tell them when Mazda approves the new engine you are going to a new dealership to get it installed and then see what they say!

I've been in this exact situation. mazda pretty much traps you.
If you don't let them do the coil/plugs/wire changes they'll blame you for any future problems that happen to the engine. and by the sounds of that dealership, it doesnt look like they're being very friendly.

is it true you need 4 years of oil receipts , the dealership is being real friendly , i can buy my plugs , coils and wires elsewhere. Im still waiting to hear what mazda canada says. How long should this take and only having 4 oil receipts from mr lube is all i have is kinda making me wonder if i will get a new enigine

It seems to be all over the place on that one. I've heard stories of guys needing receipts all the way to the beginning and some guys only have a few like you and get the replacement engine. There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. Does that help?? haha

I think that dealership was in Orangeville.

Anyway, let us know how it goes! Can you describe this "hard start" a little?

You shouldn't have to pay for diagnostics just the plugs, wires, and coils. Have them look at your engine mounts too. I had my mounts replaced when I got my engine replaced. I had my plugs, wires, and coils replaced about 6 months prior. My diagnostic costs were waved and this should be common practice at all dealers when getting an engine replaced under warranty.

You should be fine with the oil receipts. My dealer replaced my engine without showing any oil receipts and my car has aftermarket intake and exhaustn to boot.
