what is involved in getting this racing license they speak of ?

i'd like to think i'm an "advanced" driver... but i dont have a racing class license ...yet!

- does anyone have one of theese?
- are there insurance deals if you have one ? ( there should be!)

- where do you get one ?

any info would be appreciated.

^ I am not sure where you got the racing license from but if you want to get one I think you should contact CASC:

http://www.casc.on.ca/contactus.php

I think they take a look at your driving background and then you have to drive with one of their evaluators.

You can probably ask Al (Racing01) since he has one.

What makes you think your an advanced driver? Have you been to Mosport before (more then once), if not, your no where near an advanced driver.

You only really need a racing license if your going to participate in real races. If your too fast for the intermediate group and actually know how to drive (reaching the limits of your car on the track, not just thinking your going fast because you can drive aggressive), you can ask the organizer if you can be allowed in the advanced group.

Why would you think there would be insurance discounts for having a racing license? Did you know some insurance companies actually make your insurance go up if they know your taking your car on a track? They do this by finding your license plate in photos. This isn't a common occurance but some higher end vehicles have had it happen to them.

I just want to add Mosport isn't the best track to go to if its your first time. Mosport is NOT new track driver friendly unless an instructor is holding your hand for the day.

great info!

I have been there ONCE lol ... the only reason i would consider myself advanced, is because i understand difference between skill, and showing off. I already found the limits of my car... maybe not in the best places, but i would much rather learn and practice advanced techniques in a safe environment.... instead of learning the basics of heel-toe downshifting , how to pick a line, how to drive smoothly, etc....

let me make this clear - i am not a "racer", nor do i intend to be one - i just want to learn a few new skills, that i might use someday...

As for the insurance going up, that's crazy, but believable. I would rather drive the 401 with race-licensed drivers , than little old ladies in corollas someone would say "That's agressive! " , but it's also efficient! BOOO parking lots.

Good, I just hate hearing "(insert nice car here) went into a wall at Mosport and totaled his car because he was going too fast or lost control".

Aside from that I'll probably be there. Just making sure I'm free that day.

You need to take a CASC accredited racing school to obtain a licence or have a simular racing school and log book to obtain a CASC A licence.

Thanks for everybody replies, for those drivers who had good experience and been with us before, we will consider put them in the advance group but our marshals will keep their eyes on them to make sure they behave out there.
Since everybody know the track is not forgiven. We offer a Performance School program. Please click this link for more info http://www.kensairacing.com/images/c...20Program3.pdf

Thanks again, I hope to see you all.
Alan
