if anyone has a code reader in Calgary!
 

hey I'm looking for a bit of a hand... while heading back from market mall my CEL came on, so I was wondering if there was anyone in the mount royal area that would be willing to donate some time and help me out, shops want $90 just to read the code!

I'm thinking it has something to do with the way the car performs under acceleration... I press the gas and the car revs up then seems to catch and then starts to accelerate...

any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm 7 hrs from home and need to be back for Monday and I would feel a lot better knowing my car will make it home to get looked @

You may have just had a few misfires....crap gas or something

Reset the ECU and see if it comes back after a couple of drive cycles...if not don't worry and go home....if it returns right away then you need to get it checked out before you go home.

yeah thats kinda what I was thinking about the crap gas... as I had to stop in a small town (hanna) to top up on the way. just kinda wanted to make sure thats al.

Is it a flashing CEL? If so, means misfire. Try not accelerating to hard and not to go over 117km, under 3750 rpm, might get you home. If you keep driving and no more misfires, the CEL will go off without a reset btw.

Might want to try and get to Toon town from Calgary :)

Is the symptom at say gear 2 or 3? If you're hitting the loud pedal and the engine is rev'n up but an accel lag its likely your clutch.

I.e you clutch is slipping and needs to be replaced.

.....what? just bring it to northhill mazda and tell them u had a CEL, they are not gonna charge u anything if its just for checking the code. it they did, just bitch about it cuz usually they wont.
