How's your fuel mileage?
I've got no complaints because I was well aware of the fuel mileage going in.
Just curiuos how everyone's fuel mileage is tracking. Just filled up for my third tank (in less than a week) I got 21 mpg. Pretty hard driving but trying to break it in properly. Now about 1100 km, it should be about broken in right? BTW litres per 100 kms is meaningless to me (too old I guess) Here's how I converted. Kilometres X .6214 = miles Litres divided by 4.452 = gallons. Then divide gallons into the miles! |
U.S. vs Canada
Just so our American brothers know, our gallon is the Imperial gallon which is a bit bigger than yours. Sorry I don't know the exact conversion factor.
So if our mileage looks a bit better that's why. |

Sheesh!
OK OK so my memory is slightly off. 4. 452, 4.546 it only makes .43 of a gallon difference, I guess every little bit helps!

mpg is so hard to though.. especially in Canada.
1. Fill up tank to full. Reset trip odometer to 0 2. Drive :D 3. Fill up tank to full. Note how many litres it took to bring it to full. Note km's traveled. Divide litres/kmx100. Voila. My current car gets about 9.5-10.5L/100km. No idea what that is in mpg. :p |
What????
He Quick_lude,
Are you sure about your 9.5-10L/100K!!!! With my first 2 tanks, I average 15.8L/100km!!! (about 18.2 miles / canadian gallon). With my chip TT I averaged 12L/100km The worst part, is that I'm still not driving as I used to! Right now, I'm shifting between 5 and 7K, cruising at 4K. I love the car but I'm a bit worry about what fuel consumption will be when I'll drive "harder"... and let's not talk about our "quebecer" winters!! The few times I drove "harder", I swear I could see the gas neddle drop by the second   Now, if my 8 only has 225hp... that's even worst! |

Here's what I've been driving since I sold my Beamer:

Let's hope those numbers go down to about 12-13L/100km.. How large is the gas tank? |
I have 560KM and have alraedy filled up the car twice.
The dealer told me that the first 2 or 3 fill ups will drian quicky, I should be getting more driving distance from a full tank after that. Keep in mind that I do have the AC on most of the time. The dealer told me to also check the oil after every couple fill ups. if the oil drains to quickly.... it's not good, and if it doesn't drian at all..... it's even worse. |
TT2RX8,
sorry to tell you man but you ARE driving it hard. The manual has a list of recommended shift points and I played around with them this morning. It's basically at 2500rpm for each shift point, maybe 2800 rpm. This will get you the best gas consumption. It feels like you are going REALLY slow, the car just feels slow (not in a bad way) You are going fast but you can't feel the speed. Which is kind of an issue because then you end up flooring it :) I read someplace that it was more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. After doing just that I have to agree. It was more fun driving my tiburon fast than driving the RX8 slow. And RX8 slow = tiburon fast ...... if that makes any sense. |
 Holy sh&%*% 2500 to shift, geeez z let me get out and walk :D lol. I was shifting at 3500 - 4000 and I figured damn im good with this restraint... I got 14.1 l / 100 km..
