Help with Rx8 Insurance in Calgary

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone had some insight on good insurance brokers in calgary? Ones that might classify the rx8 differently or something that would make premiums cheaper.

Thanks!

How old are you? Might not make a huge difference if you are under 25. You can take a safe driver's course for reduced rate at most places and also if you are part of a group (University, company, professional group, etc) you may get discounts.

I have used Silvercrest Insurance as my broker for coverage at both Wawanesa and Novex. I believe my cost after I turned 25, Wawanesa was about ~$1800 and Novex was ~$1600. I got a quote at TD for ~$1400, but I traded my RX-8 in before switching to them. My new car a BMW is ~$1200 at TD, while Novex was charging me $1400. My record is clean no accident or speeding tickets and driving since 18.

Silvercrest's service kept getting worse and worse for me, so I decided to switch to TD Meloche Monex with no broker.

TD was also cheaper for me than going through Silvercrest with both Wawanesa and Novex, and their service thus far has been far better than what I had to deal with at Silvercrest.

Thanks for the help.

I'm 17. The lowest quote I have been able to get for insurance is 4k. That is on my dad's policy with Meloche Monnex.*

Everyone has been telling me to insure the Rx8 under my dad's name and then list myself as occasional. I would then be insured the primary on my dad's Accord but we would still drive our respective cars. I guess that's misrepresentation though and I'd prefer not to risk having a claim denied.*

There is really no way around high insurance rate for under 25yrs old for any car unless you get a junker and only buy insurance to cover the other party.

I believe mine for the RX-8 was about ~$3700 after I took a safe driver's training, but that was like 6-7 yrs ago.

If you don't drive a lot of kms each year, you can also try purchasing insurance for the RX-8 as a recreational vehicle. That will be cheaper also...
