Hamilton, proud new RX8 owner

Greetings & Salutations:

I am a proud new owner of a mint 2004 Titanium Grey 6speed RX-8 with 32,000 kms on her !
Car was sold, serviced, and re-bought by same Mazda dealership I bought it from. I have original bill of sale. Carfax showed only $400 for a windshield.

Upon picking the car up I went it to service counter to buy some 5w-20 (with my friend outside chiding me that I should be prepared to pay big bucks [$10 or more] for this special RX8 spec oil) which cost $3.49 :) and the guy selling it to me happened to mention he tried to buy the very car i was picking up but his financing fell through. Then the guy motions to another guy in the service counter area that also tried to buy it but his insurance company told him he'd be paying an arm and a leg so he passed. Their misfortune is my joy !

I am going to write a seperate thread about the two negative experiences I had attempting to source a used RX8. Initially I thought I'd only buy a 2005 maybe even a 2006 but with the american imports, flood cars, auction cars, rebuild cars, out there I was really very happy to source my single owner CDN RX8.

I'm hoping to get in one some meets locally around the Golden Horseshoe and thought I heard about something happening around Oakvile this Saturday ?

I must say I find the sound of driving my RX8 to be an addictive experience - it's the combo of the engine and exhaust (via open sunroof) that is very stimulating & satisfying. The car is light at just over 3,000 lbs and I feel it. It almost reminds me of my old 1987 Toyota MR-2 with it's tight handling and ability to rev to 8,500+

A friend of mine said once your a rotorhead your one forever (Thanks ALAK <---from RX7club.com) He was right - I'm hooked - and damn proud to be a Rotorhead. My wife can't keep me out of the garage now after I blew $70 on Mother's and Meguiars car care products ! Hahahah I cant wait till I start modding my RX8 progressively with the help of you fine folks here at RX8club.

Hope to see some of you lads n' ladies at meets & on the roads here in Ontario :)

Thanks for help [in advance],

J-MON

p.s. stay tuned for another future post by me detailing my bad experiences trying to source a solid RX8 here in Ontario.

Hey congrats on the car ! Remember, don't let the mod bug bite you or you are screwed. And get some clear corners :)

Oh and welcome to the forum... lots of interesting stuff here too, remember A Redline a Day Keeps the Carbon Away. :)

Centennial Parkway Mazda - it's closer to home. Unless someone here recommends Mountain Mazda ?

Everyone's right. Stay away from the mods if you want your wife to not hate your choice of car. :D

thx for the greets

I feel welcome ! Thx for the greets now I look forward to the meets :us4allswi

The car only needed 3 things:

1 - The front lower lip must have hit a snowbank or something and was hanging about 2/3 of an inch lower than the body on the car. It needed a few clips and now looks 100%. Case of beer for the tech that repaired it after hours :) sweet

2. - Low intensity light bulb. I noticed on way back from dealer in Waterloo that I had no DRL's. Problem solved for $74 sheckles not too bad. :)

3. - Front brakes have slight shimmy in them under hard [read: extreme] braking conditions. They need servicing. = 2 Cases of beer for same tech this Saturday I'm getting them done.

THEN I'm punching it up to warp 8 to be at my first RX8 Meet In Oakville ! Thanks for the invite RX8Thunder. I'm stoked.

Hope to meet lots of fellow Golden Horseshoe R(otorheads)X8.

My tech who is doing the brakes is here in Hamilton so my plan is to get them done and then boot home to Mother's stage 3 wax my car and then cook out to Oakville.

I sincerely appreciate the offer to cruise to Oakville together (it'd be cool to get a caravan of RX8's all going there together [that would turn some heads eh?]) - wholeheartedly. I hope to see you there rotarygreg. :us4allswi

Greetings from Hamilton / Stoney Creek border zone.

I too missed the Oakville meet too as I had an opportunity to help my buddy (attempt) to get his SeaDoo Speedster in the water that day. I have to check how the Oakville meet went but I know it started thunder / lightning & raining like crazy late afternoon. Next local meet I'm in as well. As long as I have my rear 'clunking' sound sorted by then.:banghead:

Polish_Heat 04-29-2009 02:34 PM

Do you know when the next meet is and where? I definately want to go to one!

Wargoose 05-01-2009 07:11 AM

Congratulations! And great choice in colour - nothing says class and elegance like titanium grey. :-)
