GTA Pricing Help

First off, I want to apologize to the forum vets. for recycling a post. Yes
I'm am going to talk about pricing....

I am looking to buy an RX8 w/in 5 days and have gotten a couple
of quotes. I printed a copy of Blue Streak's invoice from Calgary and
it is a good reference, but a couple of things through me off. How
come he didn't have to pay the Freight+PDE??? Anyone get a dealer
in the GTA not to charge freight/PDE?

I can get a new 2005 RX8 GT w/ moonroof(reg.$1000)
and Spoiler(reg.$550) for $38,000 pre-tax. Tax here is
of course 15% (plus a/c tax, gas tax,) plus the freight/PDE
that the dealer offered for about $950. That totals to
about $45000 taxes/freight in.

There is also a dealer w/ the same package as above in stock, except it's a
2004. This dealer has about 4-5 2004 GT's in stock. They are quoting them
for $38,500 pre-tax by phone w/out haggling. What price can/should I realistically get on the 2004???
(I heard that Mazda, at least in the USA gave their dealers about $3000 in
credit if they had 2004 RX8's sitting around.) Or should I stop being a whiny
baby and just buy the 2005 for $45000??

Also did you guys opt for an extended warranty from Mazda??
Seems like a good idea to me but I've never bought a new car before...

Any responses would be appreciated especially from RX8 owners from Ontario.

Thanx guyz

P.S. Sorry about the looooong post :)

I wasn't aware that BlueStreak was from Calgary (I think he's from the US). Anyways, I believe that you are referring to my invoice that I posted up.

With regards to the PDE+Freight question, I did pay it but I guess for accounting reasons or whatever, the dealer omitted from the invoice. He couldn't take out the AC and tire tax so the savings had to come from somewhere.

From what I have heard, realistically you can get a 2004 GT for around 33-35K pre tax. I seem to remember some of the new members getting their's for around that. Chime in fellows.

The only reason I would get a 2005 is if I really liked the White color. Other than color, there is nothing terribly new about the 2005 ... gimmicks like switchblade FOB, clear coolant container (?) and new dipstick. Go for the 2004!

Why are you in such a rush to purchase? If I were to get the 2005 with your package, I would pay at most 43K with Ontario tax and all. Play hard ball.

LOL .... sorry BlueFrenzy :-)

Wow, I'd be all over $34000ish like a fat kid on a smarty! Has anybody been able to get a new 2004 GT w/ moonroof and spoiler for around $34K in the GTA (pre-tax)??? What dealership and do they have any more 2004s???

I'm in a rush to buy 'cuz my crap box is dying!!! I'm surprised I got the winter out of it! Also I work in sales and I hate haggling 'cuz I hear it all day long; but it looks like I'm gonna have to do it.

Slamma, if you don't mind me asking which dealers where offering those prices on the '05?

I will be getting one in a couple months time, have kept putting it off for various reasons, so would like to keep in mind where to try first :)

thanks.
